A GOOD PORTION OF THE YEAR HAS BEEN IMPACTED BY THE UNCERTAINTIES CAUSED BY OUR RECENT HEALTH CRISIS, AND THIS IN TURN IS AFFECTING INDUSTRY AND THE BROADER ECONOMY. There’s definitely anxiety in business about ‘what happens next’, because we’re largely traversing unchartered waters. But while many factors are out of our control, as a JLG customer, we want there to be stability and continuity in your relationship with our brand and through your ownership experience of our equipment. We want to ensure that we continue meeting your needs through these challenging times. There are a number of ways owners can maintain control over their machine’s performance, maintenance and general running costs. JLG offer a range of options including fixed price servicing and scheduled maintenance packages, which provide owners with many benefits. Fixed price servicing gives you knowledge about what your maintenance work will cost, so there are no hidden surprises. Taking this a step further, our scheduled maintenance packages provide the convenience of tailored maintenance programs to best suit the application – for a competitively priced fixed fee, JLG effectively takes ownership of the maintenance process, providing owners with better cashflow and budget control. For added convenience and peace of mind, JLG can also complete your required 90 day, annual and major inspections for MEWPs as well as general day to day run-up service and maintenance of any other equipment on your fleets. I’m also pleased to share with you that in recent months our Port Macquarie, NSW, manufacturing facility has been working hard to ramp-up production, to satisfy increased demand for our Australian-made lighting tower and trailer ranges. The interest in these products has been particularly strong as a number of infrastructure and mining projects gain momentum. The centre also plays a vital role in overseeing specialised customer engineering requests, as well as housing JLG’s important Technical Services team. As a company we are very proud to retain this Australian manufacturing base and Technical hub, which allows us to provide superior products and support to you our customers. JLG’S HOME-GROWN TRAILER, THE TSL-2000 JLG INDUSTRIES’ TSL-2000 SCISSOR LIFT TRAILER HAS NOW BEEN AVAILABLE SINCE 2017 AND HAS PROVEN POPULAR WITH JLG CLIENTS, INCLUDING THOSE WHO HAVE INVESTED IN THE TRAILER AS A STANDALONE PURCHASE, OR WHO HAVE BOUGHT IT AS PART OF A SCISSOR LIFT PACKAGE.
Prior to its launch, a lot of effort was made into the model’s design and engineering development, with the ultimate goal to produce a trailer that was just as tough, functional and reliable as the broader JLG range. According to JLG Industries Operations Manager, Jarrad Smith, in developing the TSL-2000, JLG consulted heavily with customers including several major hire and rental industry companies, to ensure the model was fit-for-task and would exceed market expectations. “Our engineering process for the TSL-2000 was the same as for all other JLG equipment – just because it’s a trailer doesn’t mean a lot of forethought and investment hasn’t been applied,” Jarrad said. “Structural integrity, reliability and durability were all key considerations in designing this trailer, allowing our buyers to ‘buy and forget’ aside from the basic

routine maintenance. In its design, we also considered chain of responsibility requirements and load restraint obligations.” The TSL-2000 was specifically designed to transport a variety of JLG scissor lifts without the need for electric brakes. For convenience and safety, the model features a restraining package that includes three load binders, while connecting links and chains also come as standard. Another innovative feature of the trailer’s design is the adoption of a roller rocker suspension system with load share. This technology allows the TSL-2000 to be towed much more smoothly and also provides greater articulation and stability when manoeuvring the trailer on uneven ground, or for use with vehicles that have varying towball heights.
MANUFACTURING
With a tare weight of 475kg and a Gross Trailer Mass of 1935kg, the TSL-2000 is well within the towing capabilities of most dual cab 4x4s and other light commercial vehicles.
For added convenience, the limited maintenance that the TSL-2000 requires can also be handled by JLG either at a service centre location or on the worksite using a JLG mobile technician.
Engineered and built at the company’s Port Macquarie, NSW, manufacturing facility and technology hub, the TSL-2000 features components and materials that are sourced locally in Australia. All manufacturing, assembly and painting also occurs in-house, not only resulting in high product quality, but a boost for local jobs.

Machine downtime can be costly, especially if it reduces productivity on the work site, so it helps to have the backing of a dedicated and knowledgeable team. It’s for these reasons that JLG Industries has developed a comprehensive suite of aftersales services, customer support initiatives and longer term development programs to ensure that its customers enjoy a reliable and hassle-free ownership experience, both now and in the future. The work of JLG’s Technical Services division goes a long way in helping achieve these important goals. Operating from the company’s manufacturing facility and primary technical hub in Port Macquarie, NSW, as well as the JLG facilities in Sydney, Brisbane and Perth, the technical team has extensive industry experience and operates to directly service Australian and New Zealand customers, as well as internal partners along with authorised service agents.
Its responsibilities can be divided into three key areas. First and foremost, the technical team is responsible for providing the advice and direction to keep JLG equipment performing at its best. This includes responding to any issues regarding the service and maintenance of equipment, assisting in fault diagnosis, attending to product incident and accident investigations, and replacing machine ID plates, which can get damaged in the field. In the unlikely event of product issues, the technical team is involved in developing field service bulletin information (similar to recall notices in passenger and commercial vehicles), and provides advice on how to rectify the problem. It’s also an interface between the customer and JLG global, delivering feedback on products as well as ideas for improvements. The technical team also provides customised engineering solutions and advice to suit specific customer projects and requirements.

Secondly, the team plays an important role in both ensuring that JLG equipment meets legislative and regulatory requirements, and that the company as an industry expert, contributes to discussions to evolve these requirements as technology moves forward and application requirements change. All machines that are sold in Australia and New Zealand must comply with the relevant standards, which sees the team work with third-party independent engineers and testers to ensure that every piece of JLG equipment that arrives on our shores, has design verification, and where applicable has Design Registration.
Innovation and technology go hand in hand at JLG, and some initiatives from the company in this space include developing 2D and 3D schematic diagrams to assist in maintaining equipment and diagnosing faults, and introducing programs such as the ClearSky™ telematics system. JLG has also launched innovative apps that make life easier and safer for users, including Mobile Control that allows the operator to control selected machine functions via mobile phone, helping to more safely load, unload and move equipment without having to physically touch the machine.
The JLG technical team also provides Australian & New Zealand Standards representation, where it shares its many years of industry knowledge to contribute to discussions to make sure that the Australian & New Zealand Standards remain up-to-date, taking into consideration advancing technologies, customer feedback and the latest best practice processes.
