League Updates
In October, JLC hosted a successful fundraiser - The Murdered Mistress, an interactive murder mystery dinner held at the Woman’s Club of Charleston. Also in October, the League sold its inventory of cookbooks! This provided a nice profit and eliminated a very unpopular requirement. For historical purposes and on an “as needed” basis, we have retained 150 copies of each edition of our beloved cookbooks. Mountain Measures and A Second Serving have provided our League with income, notoriety, experience and a rich history for many years. The vote for this took place at the October general membership meeting. We continue to plan for our Women on the Move fundraiser. Please send any ideas for this to Elizabeth Yeager.

Membership Spotlight Name: Lindsay Bolar Hometown: South Charleston, WV Alma Mater: University of Charleston Profession: Specialty Claims Adjuster for BrickStreet Mutual Insurance Company JLC Positions: 2015 Women On The Move Logistics Chair and 2014 Women On The Move Sponsorship Chair How long have you been in the JLC: 2 years What’s your favorite part about being a member of the JLC: I love volunteering. That is the main reason I joined. Making a difference, even if it is small, in our local community really means a lot to me. There are a lot of great successful women in the Junior League, and I am so grateful to have met them and call them my friends. I love being able to tell people who do not know the Junior League all about our organization. Why did you join the JLC: My longtime friend Tiffany Hoke joined JLC the season before I did. She told me all about it a few days before the first spring provisional meeting and encouraged me to come to the meeting to check it out. I went to the meeting and have loved being a part of the JLC ever since. Fun Facts: I played competitive tennis for 15 years and was nationally ranked. I love playing recreational volleyball and softball. I’m left handed.
Provisional Development The Fall 2014 Provisional Class has 12 members. For their Provisional Project, these ladies organized two holiday crafting parties at ResCare homes in Dunbar and Cross Lanes. The ladies provided the residents with all of the materials for some cute reindeer, as well as delicious snacks. The residents enjoyed the interaction with such delightful ladies and the provisionals loved talking with the residents. This was a successful project for both the provisionals and the ResCare residents. We are already looking forward to our Spring 2015 Provisional Class.
