Jiten Mehta

Jiten Mehta is a Maryland-based accountant with more than 30 years of experience in tax preparation, financial reporting, and client advisement. He earned a law degree from the Government Law College in Mumbai and qualified as a Chartered Accountant through the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India. He is registered with the Maryland Board of Public Accountancy and has provided services to individuals and businesses across multiple industries. Since 2012, he has been serving clients through My Tax Accounting & Business Service, LLC, offering reliable and well-structured financial guidance. His professional journey began in Mumbai, where he studied both law and accountancy. He joined the Government Law College in 1982 and completed his Bachelor of Laws degree in 1987. During his studies, his interest in finance led him to pursue the Chartered Accountant qualification. To further his education, he went on to complete an LLM from the University of Baltimore and also attended additional classes at UDC. He started his career with Furgussion and Co., a professional services firm in Mumbai, where he worked for three years. His responsibilities included bookkeeping, income tax filings, and audit support for a wide range of clients. This early stage of his career gave him a strong understanding of reporting cycles, compliance obligations, and client needs across different industries. It was also during this time that he developed a careful practice of reviewing all documents and calculations thoroughly before submission. This habit remained with him throughout his professional life. After gaining significant experience in India, he moved to the United States and settled in Takoma Park, Maryland. The transition required adapting to new tax codes and financial systems, but his training and discipline helped him adjust effectively. In 2001, he joined Allstate Insurance, where he worked for a year with insurance policies and client advisement.
