Dear Child Surivors, I trust you and your families are all keeping well. I must apologise for the long delay in getting out an edition of Connections. Unfortunately I have spent the past six months recovering from a major operation. I am hopeful that a full recovery is not far away.

CSH Website and End of Year Party! We will be arranging an end of year get together at the Jewish Holocaust Centre late November early December. The exciting news is the launch of the CSH official website; you will be able to have your first view of your website at the event. An invitation will be sent in good time to mark your diary. New opportunity to Claim Compensation Some CSH may have an opportunity to claim further compensation: “Holocaust survivors, and families or heirs of Holocaust victims who were transported to concentration and extermination camps during World War II by Nederlandse Spoorwegen (NS), the Dutch state railway company, might now be eligible to receive a lump-sum payment between 5,000 Euros and 15,000 Euros from a fund established by NS. Survivors from the Jewish, Roma and Sinti communities, who were

transported from the Netherlands to concentration camps and extermination camps outside the Netherlands, may now be eligible for this payment.“ All details follow below: If you have a question please contact Lana Khasin at Jewish Care, 8517 5999. New opportunity to Claim Compensation The Claims Conference wishes to inform Holocaust survivors and the families or heirs of Holocaust victims, who were transported to concentration and extermination camps during World War II by Nederlandse Spoorwegen (NS), the Dutch state railway company, that they may be eligible to receive a lump-sum payment from a fund established by NS. This program is subject to Dutch law. At the end of June 2019, NS announced that it will compensate Holocaust survivors and the families or heirs of Holocaust victims who were deported on its trains to concentration and extermination camps during World War II when the Netherlands was under NaziGerman occupation. All determinations are made based on November 27th, 2018, the date the compensation program was developed. The deadline to submit the electronic application: August 5th, 2020.

The Criteria: • The applicant must be from the Jewish, Roma and Sinti communities • Transported from the Netherlands to concentration camps and extermination camps outside the Netherlands. • In addition, those transported to Westerbork, Vught or Amersfoort by order of the occupying forces with a view of transporting them to concentration or extermination camps outside the Netherlands. • Survivors who were still alive on 27th November 2018. If they are no longer alive, their widow/widower is eligible. If there is no widow/widower, the children of the survivor are jointly eligible. Exception: Those who were not placed in Camp Westerbork (then still a refugee camp) by order of the Dutch government in the period October 1939 to 1 July
