In the 16th century, the factory produced glass mirrors, beads and decorative bottles that were popular among the royal courts. In 1845, Spiegelau made intricate snuff bottles, which were considered highly fashionable at the time. 1521

2016
In 1911, the factory was rebuilt and modernized. In1926, owner Fritz Pretzfelder gave the company the name Kristallglasfabrik Spiegelau GmbH, or The Spiegelau Crystal Glass Factory.
Riedel Glass Works acquired Spiegelau, adding to their collection of brands that includes Nachtmann and Riedel.
Spiegelau partnered with True Brands™ in 2016 as their exclusive distributor across the US.
The first recorded mention of the Spiegelau factory is in the last will and testament of Erasmus Mospurger.

GLASS COMPOSITION
The quality of the glassware depends greatly on the type of glass used and the characteristics of its ingredients.
Standard glass consists of sand, lime, and sodium or potassium oxides. Spiegelau crystal glass has the same ingredients, plus a certain percentage of metal oxide. These ingredients are melted at approximately 2732°F and formed into the desired product.
All Spiegelau glasses are made of lead-free crystal glass. The highest quality crystal ingredients make Spiegelau products more durable, dishwasher safe, break-resistant, and more brilliant than glasses made with cheaper compositions.
