LYNN BATTEN JFO Content Coordinator/ Gallery Manager David and Carol Alloy are no strangers to philanthropy. The

couple has generously donated their time and resources to various organizations across the community. This past June they received the “Volunteer of the Year Award” from Jewish Family Service (JFS) for their volunteer service rooted in empathy, dignity, and compassion. David and Carol are actively involved with the JFS food pantry. They are also supporters of the Rose Blumkin Jewish Home Enhancing Quality of Life Campaign and the Jewish Federation of Omaha Annual Campaign. See Alloys page 3

is one of the guiding principles of IHE. “I want them to understand that each person is a personality unto themselves,” said Littky. “This is not ‘the Jews.’ This is Lola Reinglas…This is Fred Kader.” Some of the people in those photographs had walked through these very gates more than 80 years before. For the future lawyers listening, the experience was meant to transform Auschwitz from a place they had studied into one connected to lives, memories, and a sense of responsibility. The Three Chairs in Jewish Studies

SHARON BARGAS Community Engagement and Education This fall, the Jewish Federation of Omaha will bring together the scholars behind Nebraska's three endowed chairs in Jewish studies for a new three-part lecture series called "The Three Chairs." It marks the first time the community will have the opportunity to hear from all three scholars in a single season, as part of one shared series exploring Jewish history, ethics, identity, and community.

The series features Dr. Ari Kohen of the Harris Center for Judaic Studies at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln, Dr. Omri Senderowicz, Director of the Schwalb Center for Israel and Jewish Studies at the University of Nebraska-Omaha, and Dr. Marat Grinberg of the Klutznick Chair in Jewish Civilization at Creighton University. For Dr. Senderowicz and Dr. Grinberg, both new to Omaha, the series will also serve as an introduction to the city's Jewish community. See The Three Chairs page 2
