College of Jewish Learning plans spring semester The Spring Semester of the CJL Jewish Studies Institute will start on Monday, Feb. 20 and go • through Monday, March 27, from 7:30 - 9:20 p.m. The first hour, 7:30 - 8:20 p.m., will feature a course on Jewish Medical Ethics with Rabbi David I. Kaye, the Jewish Chaplain at OfTutt Air Force Base. The course will delve into Orthodox Judaism's point of view on A.I.D.S., infertility, abortion, terminal illness, fetal tissue research and feminism. Also at 7:30 p.m., there will be a new course on Jewish Mysticism with Donald Schwartz, humanities coordinator for cooperative education internships at Peru State College. The course will explore the history of Jewish mysticism, the mystics, the Zohar and the Jewish concept of the world to come. The second hour, from 8:30 to 9:20 p.m., will feature a course on Film and the Holocaust with Rabbi Dr. Richard Freund. The course will explore the use of film in understanding the Holocaust.
