Slusky proposes Synagogue/Federation cabinet

The president of the Jewish Federation of Omaha has proposed the formation of a Synagogue/Federation Cabinet to provide a team that can truly address the community's needs. Jerry Slusky told about 300 attending the Federation's annual meeting Sunday night at the Jewish Community center said the Cabinet will "allow us to further strengthen and build our Jewish community." Mr. Slusky said he would propose the Cabinet to the Federation's Board of Directors at the group's August meeting. He said Cabinet members would include: Lany Elaful, chairman, Federation; Rick Katzman, Beth Israel; Jon Meyers, Temple Israel; Sandy Friedman, Beth El; Joel Alperson, Federation; and Rick Salmi, B'nai Israel. The miuor address of the evening was delivered jy Howard Bloom, executive director of the Federation, who spoke on re-defining the IsraeVDiaspora relationship. His remarks appear on pages 7-8. In addition to the awarding of honors and the election of officers and directors, the meeting also recognized Jewish Family Service Russian resettlement volunteers.
