Kushners celebrate a wish comes true BfoRisMaUm When Dorothy Kushner of Liiuxdii cd^ratM her 90th birthday this month, an estimated 80 family members will gather to rejoice with her. And because nine of the family members plunning to attend are recent emigrants from the Soviet Unkm, the celebration—in a Jway—also will be the fulDorathy Knahaer fiUment of a wish by Max Kushner, Mrs. Kushner's late husband. When liifr. Kushner died in 1964, he left some mon^ in his will for a sister in the Soviet Union. For more than 30 years, Mrs. Kushner and her diHdren, Shirley Schaeffer and Sheldon Kushner of Lincob and Marshall Kuahner of Omaha, hoped that one day their relatives would be able to leave the Soviet Union and estaUish a new life of freedom in the United SUtes. The Kosher Pickle will be supervised by the Vaad Hakashruth of Omaha. A native of Cuba, Mr. Sbechet left that country at the age of 14 to study at a Yeahiva in Brooklyn, N.Y. He has served as a shochet aince graduation, working moot recently in Sioux City, Iowa. Jay Lemer, president of the Federati^ will present the Society's Certificate of Membership to 22 Omaha area doctors and dentists who meet the quaUficatioos for national membersh^, that is, those who c(»tribute 11,000 or more to the aimual UJA/ Federation Campaign. Dr. Alia Zinkov and Dr. Emma Khoroshukhin, practicing physicians in the Soviet Union and recent immigrants to Omaha, will be the gueet speakers. The brunch and program is open to tiie community at a coet of $10 per person. There will be no solicitation of funds.
