By Morris MaUne More than SOD attanded the 85th annual meeting of the Jewish Federation of Omaha Sunday night at the Jewish C<mimunity Center and a]qslauded the vdunteers salacted for a variety of honors. reported a $16,000 increase in the Women's effort to s total of $428,662, and an overall total of $2,172,386 for the 1988 campaign, r^reeenting an overall increase of about 11 per cent. In hia remarks, Howard BkMm, executive director of the Fedwation, said that "explosive" increaaea in programs reflect the needs of the community's constituent groups, but may be out of balance with the needs of campaign and administrative support. Mr. Bloom also said that the Federation which is relatively "invisible" in the community should carve out a specific visibility tsking into consideration the

desirability of adequate sup^ port staff. Saranne Gitnick,, Federation president, said that acconq^ishments of the Federation in her first year include reduction in the size of the Federation Board of Direi;tora, conducting a succaaafol campaign in 1988. graduating the first challenge to leadership class, and the conducting of two suooeasfid newcomer programa. She said that in 1989, a women's mission to Israel has been launched; that an educational facility will be studied and that the addition to the Rose Bhunkin Jewish Home will ' be started.
