Dr. Greenberg and Mrs. Klein, also serving a second term, will continue as chairmen of Personnel Practices and chairman of Human Resource and Development committees, respectively. Mrs. Klein: "The most exciting thing for me has been Che Challenge for Leadership' program. It's extremely rewarding to teach enthusiastic young people about Che Federation, its agencies and this Jewish community, and to start with a clean slate. I love our community. I want everyone—young, old, natives or oewcomsrs—to feel comfortable here. " Dr. GtMoberg: "The next two years ar« going to be very important for this cctnmuoity. One of tha major goals of the Fedvatfon is to establish k>ng-raaga plan:^ and adhere to tham. To be part of that is very exciting. Last year, we w^re able to

strengthen our position in (he marketplace, locally and nationally, by bffering more competitive salaries in the fields of education and nursing home care. The results have been very positive for Omaha." Mr. FHedman: "The goal of the Federation should be to continue to keep the quality of ser\ices at the highest level I've worked both sides of the equation. I know how hard it is to raise the dollars, and how hard it is to allocate those resources effectively. If we have a quaUty Jewish experience in Omaha, it will help us retain the youth and attract new people to our community " Mrs. Goidsteiii: "i made a choice to be Jewish and 1 feel good about that choice. In making it. I understood what came with it. It is the responsibility of every Jew to support each other. You just do it. .As chair-elect of Che '89 Women's Campaign, I've learned Chat when lay leadership is better trained we all feel better about our participation in foderatioo life. I look, forward to serving on the Board." Mr. Kirshenbaum: "For the last few years. I 've been more involved with the Center. I felt I should give my time to the Federatioa I've been a divisional chairman aad am familiar with Campaign, but have no real thoughts about the futura ef the Federation. I'm just glad to do whatever I can for this Jewish community." '

and declined. I felt it was too big to be truly productive. I was encouraged to write a letter to that effect and was subsequently asked to serve on an ad hoc committee that resulted in a significant reduction of Board members. Because I was instrumental in Chat change. I felt it was tune to stand behind what 1 believed in. I've been fortunate in my Ufe, financially and physically. It's time to pay back, not just write a check. Anyone can write a check." Dr. Newman: "I was thrilled and extremely proud to be asked to serve on the Federation Board. Volunteer work is very important to me, particularly in Che Jewish community This community has given me a wonderful husband and family, a spiriCual identity and a head start in working with children. Volunteers do those necessary things that can't be done by paid staff. I've always believed that everyone has tu do a Uttle extra to make our world a better place."
