Omaha joins mourners for Turkish Jews dbv. Kerrey "enraged" over Turkish massacre iovernor Robert Kerrey said he was "enraged" upon hearing of the massacre of Turkish Jews in their synagogue. "Let's not forget though that a terrorist objective is to provoke us to do our worst rather than our best." The Governor said that this "cry that comes from within for vengeance" should be used to reinforce tikB need for positive accomplishment. He suggested to the Jewish Press Monday that Nebraska's participation in the construction of one of the nation's most significant memorials—the Holocaust Museum in Washington, D.C.—could help ease their anger. Governor Kerrey is the Nebraska chairman for a statewide fund-raising effort to help build the Museum. He has invited Nebraskans to the "Night to Remember" state dinner, Sept. 27.

Israeli sources saw a common anti-Israel thread linking the Istanbul outrage with the attempted hijacking of a t>an Amerfcan 747 jet at Karachi airport Friday which resulted in the death of 16 passengers and more than 100 injured. The hijackers, they noted, demanded to be flown to Cyprus to effect the release of three Palestinian terrorists imprisoned there for the murder of three Israelis on a yacht in Lamaca a year ago.
