New York production of 'Harmah Senesh' at JCC JCC Theater Conunittee Omaha ArU West announces that the original New Vork stage production of the critically acclaimed play, "Hannah Senesh," will be performed at the Jewish Community Center theater, for two performances only, April 19 at 8:30 p.m. and April 20 at 2 p.m. The staging of "Haiuiah Senesh" repreita (ha tint time the JCC has brought to a ptofeaaional New York Off-Broadw«ty theater production. Marty Skomal, the JCC artiat-in-residence will serve as the Omaha production coordinator for Omaha Arts West. He calls the presentation at the JCC "a significant statement to both the Jewish and non-Jewish community in Omaha." "Hannah Senesh is presented by the JCC Theater Committee and replaces the
previously announced "World Premiere Production." Its production is co-sponsored by the Jewish Cultural Arts Council and with a donation from the Society of Survivors of the Holocaust. Lori Wilner's performances as Hannah Senesh, a young Jewish woman eiecuted by the Nazis for her effort to free Hungarian Jews in World War 11 has been praised. The story itself has been termed "a powerful work" and a "touching portrait of a brave young woman." The New York Times termed Ms. Wilner's performance as "poignant and fantastically moving experience." Hannah Senesh survives today in her diaries and in her poems. In Hungary, she saw firsthand the rise of anti-Semitism and emigrated to Israel just prior to World Wir (continued on page 2)

Metro area football coaches, Omaha area sportscasters and qmrtswriters submitted their nominations for the award to a five member panel. From these 11 nominations, the panel narrowed the group down to three finalists, baaed on their athletic accomplishments. The new selection process insures that all outstanding area senior athletes, regardless of their sport, will be recognized. Rabbi Isaac Nadoff has suffered a "mild heart ailment" in Israel but reportedly is in "fine" condition with no apparent damage. According to a spokesman for Beth Israel Synagogue, Rabbi NadofTs son, David, telephoned the synagogue s«gnng that his father had been admitted to Hadassah Hospital in Jerusalem. Physicians diagnosed Rabbi Nadoff's condition as a single blockage of an artery ' and proceeded to q>en the artery with "balloon surgery". The synagogue spokesman said that Rabbi Nadoff has been released from the coronary care unit and that his prospects for recovery were ezcelleht "The doctors there want him to remain in Israel until they are certain that no problem exists and that he and his wife, Jeanetjte, will return directly to Omaha," the qpbksanan added. Meanwhile, it was suggested that aqy messages or cards be directed to Beth Israel to await the return of the rabbi.
