Campaign Caberet names committee

By SuBan Paley Campaign Publicity Bobbie Epstein has be«n named general chairman of this year's gala joint campaign event, Campaign Cabaret, announced Nancy Greenberg, 1986 WomeVi's Campaign chairman and Tom Fellman and Howard Kooper, 1986 Men's Campaign chairmen. The Campaign Cabaret is the first major campaign event to be co-sponsored by both the Men's and the Women's Divisions of the Federation Campaign. Joan Lehr is Women's Division co-chairman. "We are all very excited," said Mrs. Epstein. "This is a 'happening,* it's never been done before. We will have a spectacular bistro dinner planned by Andi Kavicli, Midge Bowers, and Barbara Frankel, all of whom are renowned culinary artists. Miclcey Sturm will transform Peony Park into a real Cabaret through her incredible decorations. Susie Cohen and Felicia Sclirier have designed an original invitation, and Ellen Albin's committee has done a beautiful job of hand-addressing each envelope. TVansportatiori committee chairmen Toby Kagan and Art Grossman will arrange transportation for anyone needing a ride; we want to be sure that everyone who wishes to attend the Cabaret can do so! Kallah weekend offers Arab World lectures By Aaron Hostyk Kallah committee Professor Norman Stillman, the Jewish Cultural Arts Council's scholar-in-residence for the 1986 Kallah Weekend, will present a series of lectures, March 14-16, regarding the.Arab World. Mr. Stillmap will talk about Islamic leaders, their political and religious movements and the hopes and fears of their people. He will show the effect of these influences upon the Jewish populations still residing in . Moslem countries today. BETH EL DINNER AND LflCTURE Professor Stillman, author of the The Jews of Arab Lands, will give his first lecture at Beth El Synagogue on Friday, March 14, during services which begin at 8 p.m. It is entitled To be a Jew in Arab Lands, and will examine the Arab world today against the- background of the past, in light of the possibilities of the future. The Friday night service at Beth El Synagogue will be preceded by a family dinner at 6:15 p.m.>A limited number of reservations at Beth El are available to the Jewish community. Lincoln plans dinner for Campaign focus Lincoln's 1986 fundraising campaign will , be focused on a community-wide dityier, March 30. y Dr. Charles Coren, Federation president, has appointed Marsha Plotkin, chairman of the Campaign and organizer for the dinner. "This is the year of innovation for the Lincoln Jewish Welfare Federation and we want the entire Jewish coinmunity to join in the celebration," Ms. Plotkin said. She pointed out that all of the community's fundraising efforts will take place at the dinner. "This will be an evening of amusing the funny bone and tickling the pocketbook."
