A patron-host meeting was held recently at the home of Dorothy and Gerald Grant, patron-host chairmen for the Lincoln community Israel bond Dinner. Thirty-five patron-hosts saw a new video taps on Israel Bonds, which showed high technology activities Israel has been able to accomplish with bond dollars. Yale Gotsdiner, general chairman for Lincoln State of Israel Bonds, said "The response to the meeting was excellent, and I know that the dinner honoring Eleanor and Max Neiden on Aug 25 will be one of Lincoln's most successful". Patron host chairmen Jerry and Dorothy Grant added, "With the excellent group of hosts the uttendance at the dinner should be one of the best ever. With support from such a dedicated group, Israel's economy will continue to benefit". Samuel Greenberg, national commander of the Jewish War Veterans of the USA, has announced that his organization, the nation's oldest active veterans' organization, will award a special Medal of Merit to Ms. Uli Derickson, crew member of TWA's Flight #847. The award, to be presented at the Jewish War Veterans 90th National Convention, is "in recognition of Ms.. Derickson's courage in the face of grave personal danger." ^National Commander Greenberg noted, "Our 90th year is a celebration particularly appropriate .for us to give such an award to Ms. Derickson. The theme of this convention is a toast to life, '1' chayim'. In Hebrew, the numerical equivalent for the word for life, chai, is 18; ninety, the . anniversary we are celebrating, is five times 18 (or chai). Ms. Derickson, who saved the life of Navy Diver Clinton Suggs, will receive an award during a convention which is celebrating life."
