Israel Bond leaders attend Prime Minister's conference

A grou^) of Omaha Israel Bond leaders who will participate in the 1982 Prime Minister's' Conference to be held in Israel in January has bcwi announced by Manny Goldberg, general chairman. . The conference, which Is ' being convened under the patronage of Prime Minister Menachcm Begin, will di&cu&s plans with Israel's leaders for the next Ktages in the economic development of Israel and the "New Negcv." F o u n d e r s of t h e Mcditcrrancanto-Dcad .Sea Canal energy project, for which the Bond Organization is mobilizing $100 million in seed money, will be honored at a special ceremony during the conference Mr.' Goldberg reported. Cohen has been nominated for the presidency of the Jewish Federation of Omaha, s u c c e e d i n g J o e Kirshenbaum who moves to the office of Immediate Post President. The new slate of officers for the Jewish Federation of Omaha along with those nominated for Department Boards will be voted jjpon during the Annual Meeting, Jan. 17 at 7 p.m. In the Jewish Community Center. Paul G. Cohen, first vicepresident of the Federation, Is seeking a term as president of the Federation. M r . C o h e n Is a management consultant and president of Mid-America Business Advisors. He has served previously as vice-president of the Federation, chairman of the Personnel Practices Committee, and chairman of the Budget and Planning Committee •from 1978 through 1980. Mr. Cohen, a past B'nal B'rith Comhuskcr Lodge and Regional president; has been a member of the District Board of Governors, the Di-suTct Budget Committee and the Personnel Committee. He is active in the American-Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC). Mr. Cohen is affiliated with various local drives and committees, including the Omaha Downtown Rotary Club, lie is also a trustee with Ihe National Jewish • Hospital in Denver, a past president of the Nebraska Naljonal Guard Association, a lieutenant colonel and a deputy commander of the Nebraska Air National Guard. Mr. Cohen and his wife Jeanne have two children: David, a Junior at Burke High School: and Deborah, an e i g h t h - g r a d e r at Bcveridgc Jr. High School. They arc affiliated with Temple Israel.

Mr. Greenberg is a member of the Temple Israel Board of Trustees, treasurer of the BBYO Adult Board.- chairman of the BBYO scholarship committee, and chairman of the Federation Budget and Planning Committee. Mr. Greenberg is the coowner of the Greenberg Fruit Company. He and his wife N'oncy have two children; Robert, a sophomore at Stanford University; and Wendy, a Junior at Wcstside High School. The Grccnbergs arc affiliated with Temple Israel and Beth El Synagogue.

Mr. Friedman, vicepresident of Alexander & Alexander, Inc., was the chairman of the ADL-CRC Committee from 1977-1980, a member of the Planning and Budget Committee in 1980 and 1981, a member of the Executive Committee in 1080 and 1981, and was chairman of Die Insurance Committee in 1981. He is a previous member of the Jewish Community Center Athletic Committee, and has also been co-chairman of the Young Executive Division. In 1980, Mr. Friedman r e c e i v e d the Justin Grcenberg Young Leadership award. He is affiliated with the ADL, B'nai B'rith, and Beth El Synagogue.
