Tax tips New tax laws and Endowment Funds l!v Alhii (ioodman Controller. Jewish Federation on Omaha Recent changes in the income tax tows should be taken into consideration in both estate planning and contributing to the Jewish Federation's Endowment Funds, The new laws make it possible not only to effect mujor tax savings, but also to help the Federation continue to deliver needed services to the Jewish community. When reviewing your long-term financial planning with your advisors, you may find it. advantageous to consider a bequest in your will to the Federation's Endowment Fund. In addition, consideration also should be given to making a substantial one-time contribution as a permanent endowment or a philanthropic fund before Dec. 31, 1981. II

The substantial changes in the tax laws may make contributions of this nature highly cost effective in 1981 year-end financial planning. While investigating tax savings, one should also consider that cuts in current Federal funding of social services have put a severe p strain on Federation's financial resources and threaten the continued high level delivery of needed community services. Over the past 78 years, our Jewish Federation has played a vital role in the lives of many in the Omaha community, regardless of their social or economic status. But, for the generosity of many people who care about their fellow human beings, this would not have been possible. For those who have substantial taxable income in 1981, a good option to consider is to make a one 'time gift to either the

permanent Endowment Fund or to create a philanthropic fund as part of the General Endowment. T h e r e a r e arrangements whereby the donor can suggest distributions from these funds in the future years. If you determine that you would like to include the Endowment of the Jewish Federation in your estate planning, please notify the writernr Louis B. Solomon, executive director of the Federation (334-8200) or 333 South 132nd Street, 68154. With your permission, we will send you a letter of intent. Your signature expresses your promise to include the Federation in the planning of your estate. The new tax laws not only make it possible for the donor to derive substantial current tax advantage, but also offer an opportunity to perpetuate your name in good deeds.
