Recipient of the 1981 B'nai B'rith Americanism Citation will be Eugene A. Conley, president of Guarantee Mutual Life Company. Av Greeenberg, president of B'nai B'rith's Henry Monsky lodge, said the award will be presented Dec. 1 by former recipient Harold Anderson. Principal speaker at the Holiday Inn Central 6 p.m. dinner will be Senator Edward Zorinsky, the 1975 award recipient. The American Citation for Meritorious Service Award is presented annually for achievement in efforts to improve relations between all segments of the Omaha community. The award dates back to 1952, and the event is described as a non fund-raising recognition dinner. Mr. Conley was cited for his service through the Omaha Chamber of Commerce and the United Way of
Free rides to elderly A tree transportation system has been inaugurated in Lincoln for elderly persons desiring to attend services at Tifereth Israel Synagogue. The service has been provided by donations from families within the Lincoln Jewish community. According to the anouncement, the first priority is the elderly who cannot drive, followed by those who are unable to drive or who are hesitant todriveat night. Other riders are on a standby basis, in order of reservation. Lincoln residents may obtain information by contacting Abe Friedman at 477-1241 or 488-4560.

St. Louis hosts General Assembly

He also holds an honorary degree of doctor of Science from the University of Nebraska Medical Center.
Rabbi to speak of Jewish names
Rabbi Bcnzion Kaganoff will speak at Beth Israel Synagogue oh Nov. 8, 7:45 p.m. His topic will be "Your Jewish name-a key to your past." "Jewish family names have a long and fascinating history. The origins of Jewish names are varied and diverse. They shed light on one's background and reveal much of one's ancestry," according to Beth Israel's Rabbi Isaac Nadoff.
Thone speaks Governor Charles Thone will speak to a combined meeting of Old Timers and their wives during an installation of officers meeting, Nov. 11 at noon in the JCC, Maurice Katz has announced.
A former Soviet merchant marine captain will speak Nov. 17 at 8 p.m. in the JCC in behalf of those Jews who have not been able to leave the Soviet Union. Mikhail Eidelman will make other appearances in Omaha as he will be visiting through Thanksgiving, said Shirley Goldstein, chairman, Soviet Jewry Committee.
Pink elephant?
Itabbi Bcnzion Kaganoff Rabbi Kaganoff is the spiritual leader of Congregation Ezras Israel of Chicago, the largest
associate, and Morris Maline, Jewish Press editor, will also attend the "G.A." which this year will include over 2,500 representatives from the 200 Jewish Federations in the United States and Canada which comprise the CJF. Over 100 workshops, four major plenaries and six forums reflecting major issues facing Jewish Federations at home and abroad are included in the agenda. Mrs. Fellman will participate in the session dealing with "Maintaining Jewish Distinctiveness" which is a follow-up on the opening ForumSymposium on "The Jew in a Non-Jewish World", and will speak of the specific ways in which the Omaha Federation has carried out its program in this area. Other Forums will be devoted to the topics of "Ethiopian Jews - A Community in Peril", "Jews in the Soviet Union: Managing the Current Crisis"; "Peace in the Middle East-the Role of North American Jewry", and "Jewish Concern for Women's Rights: Opportunities and Responsibilities for Federations". The final Forum "Jewish Communities in Distress Around the World" will be preceded by a march to the old Courthouse in St, Louis to demonstrate solidarity with all oppressed Jews. The Saturday Oneg Shabbat will be devoted to a public affairs seminar concentrating on the Reagan Administration's policies on key domestic and international issues. The Lincoln Jewish Welfare Federation will be honored for its 50th anniversary during the upcoming General Assembly. Representing the Federation during the presentation ceremony will be Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Gaba.
