The election race in Israel was so close that by the printing deadline of the Jewish Press a winner had not been declared. Shimon Peres, representing the Labor Party, and Menachem Begin, for Likud, fared almost equally, according to initial election projections.

Two "simchas" affecting all generations of the Omaha Jewish community will be celebrated July 14 at the Jewish Community Center. At 7:15 p.m. groundbreaking ceremonies for the Livingston Plaza Apartments will begin In the rear parking lot area. The ceremonies will continue in the theater and be followed by the Kick-off for the $3,600,000 campaign for the Rose Blumkin Jewish Home. A gala "L'Chaim to Life" reception will complete the festivities. The two events culminate 10 years of discussion and planning, by hundreds of committee members, for the needs of the elderly of the Omaha Jewish community. Study of the characteristics, needs and problems began when the National Jewish Welfare Board Community Planning Services consultant worked with the committee assigned to study the programming needs for older adults In the new Jewish Community Center. The idea of a new long-term care home for the Jewish elderly and an apartment for the well-elderly surfaced in those meetings chaired by Mary Fellman. In 1975 a Planning and Development Committee of the Dr. Sher Home for the Aged began discussions about future needs of the Jewish elderly. Christians Support Israel By Morris Mallne Former Air Force Capt. Jerry Tobias, of Papillion, soon will fly to Israel — not in the conventional manner, nor for a conventional reason. Accompanied by an associate from United Airlines, Mr. Tobias will ferry a single engine ambulance plane to Klryat Shmona, South of Metulla, near the Lebanese border. The Turbo Cessna Centurion six passenger plane has been given to Israel by George Otis, the president of Holyland Broadcasting network and former general manager of the Lear Jet

Corporation. Mr. Otis, an evangelist, heads the "High Adventure Ministries" based In Van Nuys, California. His "Voice of Hope" broadcasts from Lebanon reach Beirut, Damascus, Cairo and Jerusalem. Mr. Tobias, who served In the Air Force for 13 years, left the service a year ago and served aa associate pastor of Bellevue Assembly of God church. "It was a year of preparation and intensive training," Mr. Tobias told the Jewish Press. Mr. Tobias formerly piloted the Boeing 747, "Flying White-

house' ' E4 aircraft out of Offutt Air Force Base. In Israel, he will fly the ambulance plane which is designed to assist wounded Israelis, Christians, and Moslems, who are victimized and wounded by PLO terrorists and Syrian bombardments. The plane will be on call 24 hours a day. Mr. Tobias will be joined In Israel by his wife, Carolyn, and their two children, Melissa, 11, and Matt, eight. They will reside in Klryat Shmona In a house rented by High Adventure Ministries. His family will fly by commercial aircraft. (Continued on Page 9)
