LINCOLN, OMAHA Omaha, Neb., Frl., June 26,1981
Chief Justice Blasts Bigotry and Prejudice By Morris Mallne The chief justice of the Nebraska Supreme Court jolted an audience of 800 with a stralght-from-the shoulder punch at bigotry and prejudice. "Bigotry and prejudice must be unacceptable among decent people.. .we should be outraged by those who would promote racially prejudiced distortions of the truth," said Norman Krlvosha. Justice Krlvosha spoke last Monday night at Peony Park at the 1981 Brotherhood Dinner sponsored by the Midlands chapter of the National Conference of Christians and Jews. Honored at the dinner for their efforts to improve human relations within the community were Rabbi Sidney H. Brooks, senior rabbi at Temple Israel, and Dr. Claude H. Organ, Jr., professor and chairman of the Department of Surgery at the Crelghton University School of Medicine.
The letter, Justice Krivosha said, was sent to Nebraska editors and social studies teachers. Justice Krivosha said the letter asks, "Have we Nebraskans contributed to the Zionist-Israeli dominance of the U.S. Senate? "Was Zorlnsky's quick switch from Republican to successful Democratic candidate for the U. S. Senate a part of the Zionist game? "Why was Senator Exon made man of the year by B'nal B'rithoftheADL? "Is B'nai B'rlth-ADL an unregistered agent of a foreign nation? "Is Exon's only appointment to the Supreme Court a Zionist." The purpose and Intent of the letter. Justice Krivosha said, was to state that one who Is either Jewish or supportive of the Jewish State .U~ unAmerican and unqualified to hold public office.
He said that he was concerned not only by the letter but more so, by the fact that there was no response to it by anyone. "No editor published It, and no citizen challenged It." The Chief Justice asserted that his concern was that Curry published this "letter of hate" and no one said anything. "No one was offended about Curry. He was permitted to retain his appearance of respectability, confident that if no one was motivated to support his view, at least no one was motivated to take issue with his view." Justice Krovlsha concluded his remarks with a Talmudlc story about an elderly rabbi, and two youths who derived pleasure from taunting and teasing him. The boys captured a bird and, held it in their hands. They said to the rabbi, "Is tho bird dead or alive?"

An opinion-editorial by U.S. Senator Roger W. Jepsen (R-Iowa) Israel's June 7th bombing of Iraq's nuclear facility has upset many people. Much of this concern has been largely misplaced by Americans who are not yet aware of the chain of events that brought Israel to the conclusion that she mast destroy the Iraqi facility. Let us start with three central facts. First, Israel has a national commitment that there will never be another Holocaust. Secondly, Israel. demonstrated in the Camp David
Agreement a willingness to make great sacrifices in order to insure peace in the Middle East. Finally, let us totally dispel the notion that Iraq needed a nuclear power facility. The claim that Iraq, a major oil exporting country, needs to develop additional energy sources is as ridiculous as the idea that the State of Iowa needs to import corn from China In order to feed the livestock In Iowa. Iraq wanted the nuclear facility to develop an atomic bomb. Iraqis have repeatedly bragged about their goal, In spite of the obvious violation it would produce under the nuclear non-prolif-
whether America and freedom lives or dies from bigotry lies in our hands. "We must assert ourselves and our views to save freedom and America. We must be outraged."

If there was ever any doubt where these nuclear weapons would be used It was cleared up on Oct. 4 of last year when the official Iraqi newspaper, AL TAWRAH, said that Iraq's nuclear reactor (Continued on Page 2)
