BySuzleSomberg Jeri Kaplan (Mrs. Mickey) has accepted the position of general chairman of the 1980 Greater Omaha Women's Dlvison for Israel Bonds. Mrs. Kaplan was the 1979 vice-chairman for Israel Bonds and has been a dedicated worker on behalf of Bonds and the Women's Federation Campaign for many years. She is public relations chairman of the ADL/CRC and serves on their education committee. She is also the new educational vice-president of Hadassah. While Mrs. Kaplan has always felt a very strong tie to Israel and the Jewish People, she felt that something was mtssing. After years of dropping her children off for religious school, she realized that the missing piece was her own Jewish education. She became a active participant in the Beth El Learning Center for Women, and she is now studying with Rabbi Barry Welnstein and Marcla Tatz in preparation for her Jan. 24 Bat Mltzvah at Temple
Israel.
While her Bat Mitzvah will satisfy a commitment to herself, Mrs. Kaplan feels her involvement with Israel Bonds is her way of fulfilling her commitment to World Jewry. She said, "Through the purchase of Israel Bonds, we are lending money to Israel as an investment in the future. It Is
Bond money that provides the capital for building schools, erecting factories, opening new businesses.. .it is Bond money that creates new jobs which enable recent immigrants to become self-sufficient. Purchasing Bonds is our tribute to the people of Israel .. . our testament of faith in their future."
