Concert Brings Boy To Bounce and Tilt A Review ByYolandaLerner All eyes focused on seven year old David Skid as he bounced up and down, his blue yarmulka tilting from side to side. He was among the 350 people who attended the third annual Jewish Day School benefit concert last Sunday at the JCC auditorium. David as well as the scores of other children attending were visibly moved by Debbie Friedman — the performer for the concert. Ms. Friedman utilized a unique approach combining entertaining and teaching. A pretty dark-haired young woman strumming a guitar proved to be a memorable scene. Her eyes crinkled In laughter as she, the composer, singer and teacher, sat on the tall wooden stool, guitar resting on her lap, explained the meaning of her songsrtranslating from Hebrew to English. Elementary Day School children hopped onto the stage, mid-program to show Ms. Friedman just how talented they were. And indeed their sparkling faces and enthusiastic voices brightened the scene. They gained approval as they merrily sang the songs they mastered in day school.
