Women's Federation Campaign 1977-78

'Creating a New Image' By Ducky Milder and Cookie Hoberman This year's Federation Campaign is directed toward TWO major goals: 1) raising money (or the "Jewish Cause" and, 2) bringing the women of our community together for a HAPPENING — emphasizing Jewish awareness. Our theme, "Creating A New Image" unfortunately DOES NOT refer to a reduction in the basic financial needs. Israeli Jews are still pressed by the threat of war. Soviet Jews are still locked Into an antl-Semetlc world. Omaha Jewish agencies such as the Sher Home and Jewish Press cannot operate without our support. "Creating A New Image" however, DOES refer to a change in the methods used in accomplishing our goals. In relationship to fund raising, our underlying assumption Is: that each woman must motivate herself to give. We can emphasize the needs. Publicize the data. But the decision rests with the individual. Only SHE knows what SHE feels. Only SHE knows her specific situation. We believe the cause "Speaks for itself." We believe every Jew understands the meaning o f . . . "We must care for our own." We are relying on each individual's "sense ot caring" . . . "sense of responsibility" to motivate herself. To motivate herself, to give the "very top dqllar." So, In the coming campaign we will be asking for an increase of 10 per cent over last year's gift. We will be asking 10 per cent to cover Inflation, and'/+" to cover the private (CbhUiluettohPage2>
