which everyone concerned—including American Jews—must become accustomed. Who knows? It is at least possible that the Arabs may come to terras quicker with a Begin than with someone softer and more accommodating—they've had 30 years to do that. "Of one thing I am fairly certain—and this grows historically out of Zionist Revisionism—The Begin government will be far more likely than its predecessors to
go it alone—far more likely to defy the U.S.—far more likely to accept the consequences of Israel's ' strength—far less likely to see itself as some sort' o! international welfare case—subsidized, armed, indeed guaranteed, by one or more outside powers—far less likely to move over—far less likely to settle for less. "This is the new Ideological element represented by the Likud victory. What we do not know is who will blink first?
On Survival The newly-formed World Confederation of Jewish Community Centers has focused on the survival of the Jewish people in a traditional, cultural way of life as a major concern. "We now are charged with the responsibility to develop Centers as Jewish Centers and not. Centers for Jews," said Phil Cofman, executive director of the JCC. Cofman was one of the 30J member American contingent which participated recently In the First World Conference. He described the Conference as a realistic opportunity to meet with colleagues and counterparts from the free world to examine some of the problems and issues confronting Jewish Community Centers. His group met with top Israeli leaders including the President of the State, the Mayor of Jerusalem, the former Chief Rabbi of Israel's Defense Force and Rabbi David Hartman, of Hebrew University. ~ One of the things we gained, said Cofman, was, the opportunity to learn of the commonalities we share In our work and efforts. ' — - "In some cases, the methodology may be different, but the objectives are basically the same." (Continued on Page 4)

Man's dignity is^a force and the only modus Vivendi by which man and his history survive. Wben mid-twentieth century Germany did not let man live and die with this right, man became an animal. No matter how technologically advanced or sophisticated, when a man negates this divine right he not only becomes self-destructive, but castrates his history and poison* our future. This is what The Nazi Drawings are about."
