Exon Praised for Prp-lsmel Stance

Center Gallery's Champagne Opening Will Feature Paintings and Sculpture OMAHA — Center Gallery, the Omaha Jewish Community Center's majo'r exhibiting gallery will hold Its premiere Champagne Opening on Saturday, Oct. 23,8:30-10:30 p.m. The newly established gallery is located In the lobby of the Center, 333 So. 132nd Street! An Informal Sunday reception will be held on Oct. 24,2-4 p.m , at the Center. Both receptions are open to the entire community. Featured at Center Gallery's first exhibit are two outstanding midwest artists: Omaha painter, Frances Kraft, and Kansas Cify"Sculptor, Adolph Klugman. Both artists will be present at the Saturday evening and Sunday afternoon openings. The exhibit is scheduled to run for three weeks and may be viewed during the Center's operating hours - For Mrs. Kraft,*previous past chairman of Crelghton University Fine Arts Department, the exhibit will be her first major show since her resignation this year. The artist resigned from her postlon to continue her own painting career, Mrs. Kralt, who, for the most part Is a self taught painter, teacher, education administrator and expert on visual arts, served on the Crelghton faculty for 11 years In various capacities frsm ieciurer/ie fins arts department chairman '(1973-1976). Herpalntlng career began long before joining the Crelghton staff, and she now spends full time In her studio, devoted to her work.v • Over the years, Mrs. Kraft has served on many committees and boards associated with art activities, and has given many lectures In art, Including a series In 1970, for the Jewish Cultural Arts Council Adult Education Program. • In 1974 she was selected by the Omaha Womens Political Caucus to receive the award of "Woman of the Year in Art." Recently she was asked to join the three man jury to Judge the ~ World Herald Amateur Snap Shot Contest; the first woman to do so.o. . Her exhibits include several juried, invitlatlonal one-man and group shows at the Sioux City Art Center, University of South Dakota,. Crelghton University, College of SL Marys, and Lincoln's Wesleyan University and Sheldon Galleries. Omaha artist-painter, Frances Kraft was recently honored by Crelghton University Fine Arts Faculty with the establishment of the Frances Kraft Scholarship Fund for Fine Arts majors. It was awarded on behalf of her many years of work and outstanding contributions to-the Creighton Fine Arts Department. Market: The paintings that will be shown at the Center are works that have been done over the past several years, up to the early part of this summer.
