We believe that law should and must be obeyed. It is not our intention to substitute our judgments for the elected school board officials who have the difficult task of respgndingtothecourfBrequirements. . >' Our purpose is tounake dear whit we believe to be the moral obligation which, rests upon the entire Omaha community: to work peacefully, co-operatively and diligently for a program of educational excellence in this city, one in which every child is assured of the best educational experience possible, and in a school system which is in compliance with our American Constitution. While the busing oi students has become a very controversial matter, it seems clear that, in keeping with the order of the Circuit Court of Appeals, it will become necessary to transport students to other schools. As this occurs, we would urge that an segments of our community work co-operatively for its efficient and peaceful acceptance. We believe the lessons of other communities are dear. In those communities where cool heads have prevailed and where a commitment to educational opportunity for all children has been demonstrated, the transition has been peacefully achieved, and the community has <nniinued to progress. We want Omaha to be just such a community; a community where the law is respected, where citizens work together for orderly, peaceful change and where excellent educational opportunities can continue to be assured (or all of our children. THEREFORE, The Jewish Federation of Omaha Board of Directors supports the goals expressed by Concerned Citizens for Omaha.
