The petition expreases the faer the center plan will relegate the cultural committee to providing only edocatiooal claasea, and will deny the Jewiah community "a voice In ita own cultural acUvities." The Qiltural Committee's plan would have a chairman appointed by the Federation president. The chairman would then appoint six other pafiona to serve aa committee members. Each •synagogue would appoint four delegatea, the JCC eight delegatea and all other sponsoring Jewish organizationa two delegates. Committee membership would include Omaha's rabbis and cantors. Each member would have one vote. The Committee would have a professional staff supervised by the Federation executive director and would be given office and program space by the JCC. Only programs "of special Jewiah intereat" would get Federation funda; all others "must be self-supporting," the proposal says. would have separate fees for Center and non-Center members, The proposal of the center board, which seeks a broad program for its membership, would maintain the two separate committees — the Cultural and the JCC's Performing and Fine Arta committees. The Qiltural Cpmmlttee's activitea would include, but not be limited to, providing "Jewish educational classes" and "community-wide educational events." It would share ilaff personnel with the Center's committee and would charge fees that would be the same for Center members and non-members. The Performing and Fine Arts Committee would provide theatre, fllma, lectureis, exhibitions, handicrafts, dance and mwlc. Its tee structure would provide for member and non-member fees, at the committee's diacretion. The JCC plan provides for Joint sponsorship and presentation of events "utilising the professional staff of the Center as needed." It uys that the executive director of the Center would inaure efficient utilization of staff members "and that any difficulties or problems" would be reconciled in an expeditious manner."
