Omaha youth lead the parade in a Youth Salute to Israel held Sunday, May 6, at the University of Nebraska at Omaha Fielduouse. The day was highlighted by programs presented by Synagogue and Youth Groups and a Sports Maccabiah.

Russian Concert Singer Will Perform in Omaha Omaha—A noted Russian-Jewish concert singer, Grisha Tsatskis, will perform in Omaha on Thursday, May 24,1973. The 8 p.m. concert at Beth Israel Synagogue is sponsored by the Jewish Cultural Committee. • A member, of a devoutly religious family, Tsatskis received his musical education at the Moscow State Conservatory and became a popular concert singer, appearing on Soviet radio and television. He also performed with .the Moscow Philharmonic Orchestra. Since Immigrating to the United States a year ago, Mr, Tsatskis has appeared in con- > cert in many American and Canadian cities. He will be accompanied by his wife Ida, a former pianist with the Riga Philharmonic Orchestra. The Omaha concert will include a varied program of classical music, cantorial selections and Yiddish, Russian and Israeli folk S O n g S .

They reported that President Nixon's national security advisor was "sympathetic to our presentation" and we are "encouraged by Dr. Kissinger's response and by his assurance that the channel of communication between the White House and tbo Jewish community on this Issue (Soviet Jewry) will remain open." The three leaders were Max Fisher of Detroit, past president of the Council of Jewish Federations and Welfare Funds, Richard Maass, chairman of the National Conference on Soviet Jewry and. Jacob Stein, chairman of the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations. In their joint statement, Fisher, Maass and Stein said: "We presented to Djr. TEL AVIV (JTA)—The Public Committee for Iraqi Jews has • appealed to the Swedish Ambassador in Baghdad to try to save the life of 22-year-old Dori Kashkosh whose parents", sister, and . two brothers were reportedly murdered by Iraqi secret police in their home April 12. The girl, a university student, is reportedly In hiding. The committee has asked the Swedish envoy to grant her Swedish citizenship as protection from Iraqi authorities who may try to take her life. The Baghdad authorities want to confiscate the Kashkosh family's property and cover.up their crime, the committee said. .. Dori Kashkosh was saved only because she was attending classes at the university on the morning of April 12 when police entered her home and murdered five members of her family after a brief altercation, reports said. The Israel-based committee has also approached Israel's ambassador to the United Nations, Yosef Tekoah, to request an international investigation of the Kashkosh murders arid of the fate of 16 other Iraqi Jews missing since last fall. -
