Senators Urge Less US Support for Israel Washington (JTA)—Senators James Abourezk (D. S.D.) and Mark Hatfleld (K. Ore.) urged on April 18 that tho United States back off from its Btrong support for Israel. Abourezfc said, "We should • take the lead in reducing both tensions and arms shipments to ensure that the Middle East focus is on the conference table rather than on the battlefield."
