Omaha—A gift of $10,060 from the Omaha Section, National Council of Jewish Women has been made to the- Building Fund of the new Omalia Jewish Community Center. Paris (JTA)—Two envelopes containing explosives were discovered in the Israeli Embassy here. The e n v e l o p e s were opened by French de-mining experts and did not explode. Tho. two envelopes, one of which arrived with the mid-day mail and the other with the afternon mail delivery, were addressed to two members of the Embassy. They were marked "personal." The Israeli Embassy refused to reveal the names

of the two, c i t i n g "security measures." The two envelopes were considered suspicious by the Embassy's security staff which at onco called local police. ••Two French de-mining experts took tfie envelopes with them to the central explosives' laboratory where it was discovered that they contained a quantity of explosives sufficient to blow up a room killing all those present.

Tel Aviv (JTA)—Israel announced the complete withdrawal of its forces from Lebanon following a 3G-hour ground and air assault on terrorist strongholds in that country. • The action, described official-

Iy as a "combing and purging operation," involved the largest Israeli armored force ever to penetrate Lebanon, supported by waves of jet fighterbombers. Israeli casualties w e r e announced as three dead and' six wounded. Terrorist fatalities were- estimated at at least CO dead in the ground actions and possibly more from air attacks. . During the fighting which began early Saturday morning when three Israeli armored infantry, columns plunged across the Lebanese border, nine terrorist strongholds were overrun. An Israeli military spokesman 'said 13 Lebanese villages were systematically cleared of terrorists and between 130-150 h o u s e s sheltering terrorists were destroyed.

Omaha — Omaha has been named one of the major Jewish communities in tho United States and Canada that will participate in the "Torch of Independence Ceremony" inaugurating the 25th anniversary celebration of the State of Israel. -. __ The Torch will arrive in Omaha on Tuesdayt September 2G at 4:09 p.m. at the Eppley Airfield in the hand of an _ Israeli student who will bring it from Israel. In acceptance cercomnics to be held in the airport terminal, the Torch will be accented .by a delegation of local community leaders. AU members of the community are invited to be present at the ceremonies. The Torch will be carried from-the airport to the Jewish Community Center at 20th and Dodge. j ^ n (JTA)—The diplomatic community was shocked by the booby-trapped letter murder this week of Ami Shechori, the Agricultural Attache of the Israeli Embassy here. Shechori, 44, was fatally wounded when ho opened a letter mailed from Amsterdam whieh'contained explosives. The explosion also seriously injured Kaddar Theodor, "Mr. Shechori's successor. The dead diplomat, who had completed his four-year tour in the Embassy, was due to- return to Israel. T h r e e other.bobby-trapped letters, were subsequently de'tected in the Embassy mail and were rendered harmless.

Scotland Yard cordined off the Embassy area and is con* ducting a nationwide investigation to trace the killers and their associates. A senior police official expressed surprise at' the apparent lack of security at the Embassy. "We are smy prised that the Israelis- were not'on their guard against such an eventuality," he told news- • men. According to police and Embassy spokesmen, Shechori! and other senior officials were open- '• ing mail that had piled up in the Embassy mail room-over the Yom Kippur holiday when the letter described as ordinarylooking exploded, Shechori suf-. fered severe stomach, face and hand injuries.

(JJTA)-Rabbi.Pinhas Teitz, a-leading Or-. thddox rabbi, said he had received a cable • of New Year greetings, addressed to all Jew's in the United States, from Rabbi Yaacov Fishman, Chief Rabbi of Moscow and Ephraim Kaplun, head of the Moscow. Jewish community. The cable expressed the hopa that Jews everywhere would be granted through their prayers a year of peace for Jews and for the world. Rabbi Teitz said that such a message could not have been sent without the approval of Soviet authorities and that its transmittal might indicate a possible expression of policy by the Soyiet^ Union.
