Lecture by Black Rabbi April 28 at Beth Israel '

Omaha—A black rabbi, Hallu Mosha Paris, will be the guest lecturer at Beth Israel Synagogue, Wednesday, April 28 at 8 p.m. Co-sponsored by the Jewish Cultural Committee and The American Jewish Committee, the lecture is open to all interested members at the community at no charge. Rabbi Paris was b o r n in Ethiopia and came to t h e United States in the late 1930's, His first contact with Hebrew came through his association with the Black Jewish Community in Harlem. He ittended City University and Yeshiva University, and r e c e i v e d a Bachelor of Hebrew Literature Degree with a major in Hebrew literature and a minor in Jewish History. Des Moines Tops $600,000 Mark in Campaign to Date Des Moines — The 1971 All-in-One Campaign of the Jewish Welfare Federation has passed the $600,000 mark, with 400 cards still outstanding.. Giving is well above the 1970 Campaign. The same contributors last year donated $430,000.

His first book, "The Source of Modern Jewish History," is recognized as the standard authority wherever Jewish history is taught. He has also authored a two-volume biographical history of Israel, Dr. Sachar's comments on Middle Eastern and Jewish developments are periodically taped via trans-Atlantic telephone, and are broadcast on Kol Yisrael radio Jn Israel.
