It is because she has no alternative that Israel must drain her citizens wth taxes to pay the daily $3 million bill for defense. ' -. ; And because they have no alternative,' Israelis have learned to live with war, while they long for peace. They know that for them there is no second chance, no place to hide, no place to flee. They have no future apart from Israel. -They do what they do because they have no alternative. "And because Israel has no alternative, Omaha Jews have no alternative either," said Morley Zipursky, Chairman of the 1970 Omaha Jewish Philanthropies-UJA-Israel Emergency Fund Campaign. "If we could not see and avert the Holocaust that took six million Jewish lives in Europe, we now have no doubt that a second.Holocaust threatens Vh million Israeli Jews. We can't let it happen." Mr. Zipursky noted that financial aid can't assure Israel's survival, but its lack could make Israel's future still more precarious. "While Israelis give their lives, all we are

Harlan Noddle will serve as chairman of the Young Executive Division., Kevce Kirslienbaum will be the General Men's Division chairmen. Mr. Zipursky noted that the chairmen have all demonstrated their leadership abilities in various areas of community life, and that all have been actively involved in campaign activities for many years. •. Herbert F. Gaba to Head Lincoln Federation Drive Lincoln . . . Hyman Polsky, president of the Lincoln Jewish Welfare F e d e r a t i o n , has announced the appointment of Herbert F . Gaba as chairman of the 1970 Federation Campaign.
A Lincoln native,-Mr. Gaba is a graduate of tho University of Nebraska. He serves as financial secretary of the Lincoln City Lodge of B'nai B'rith and is a trustee and treasurer of the South Street Temple.

There is a continuing need to aid Jews in eastern Europe and those in Moslem countries. Trude Weiss-Rosmarin to Speak at Omaha Adult Education Program Omaha . . . Dr. Trude WeissRosmarin, scholar, teacher, author, editor, lecturer, will be the guest speaker in Omaha Monday,-March 9, to open the second session of the Adult Education Program sponsored by The Jewish Cultural Committee. Dr. Weiss-Rosmarin's !f$ p.m. lecture a t Beth Israel Synagogue will be open to the community a t no charge. A native of Germany, Dr. Weiss-Rosmarin came to this country shortly before the rise of Hitler, after receiving her 'Ph;D. at tho age of 22 for a thesis on the earliest history of the Arabs. A prolific author of many books, she is the editor of The Jewish Spectator, a contributing editor of Judaism and has written for London Jewish Chronicle. • Much in demand as a lecturer, Dr. Weiss-Rosmarin is one of the few non-rabbis who have been addressed rabbinical associations. Jarring Will Not Resume Mission Geneva (JTA) — United Nations Secretary General U Thant announced here this week, after a meeting with Gunnar Jarring, that the UN special representative would not resume his Mideast peaceseeking mission, at least in the immediate future. The UN official noted that Dr. Jarring was reluctant to return to the region simply to resume his "fruitless" rounds of visits to Jerusalem and Arab , capitals. The Secretary General expressed gave concern over the Mideast which he said was •"hoaling-up-most dangerously," adding thatJhe June 19G7 cease-fire agreements w e r e now completely ineffective.
