Jerusalem (JTA) — Foreign Ministry officials vigorously denied this week foreign press reports that Israel had built five n u c l e a r bombs. They called such reports "speculative, unaH-t&orized and unfounded." The report in the Montreal Gazette w h i c h was re-published in the London Evening Standard was attributed to an as yet unpublished article in De Spiegel, the West German weekly. The officials said such reports "crop up from time to time" but that "Israel is not a nuclear state." The Government's p o l i c y remains; they said, that Israel will not be the first nation to introduce such weapons into the Middle East. The Montreal Gazette story, written by Peter Lust, its foreign a f f a i r s specialist, said that existence of the alleged bombs was discovered by a group of Der Spiegel journalists. The Gazette described the bombs as 20 kiloton atomic . bombs similar to those dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki in the closing days of World War II. It said the bombs were produced at a nuclear testing station in the Negev Desert 11

' NEW YORK (JTA)-The New York Federa'tiori of Reform Synagogues has embarked on a • program to provide young men of draft age with accurate information on the Jewish point of view on war and peace ahd on Selective Service procedures to help them "reach Intelligent decisions regarding their course of action with respect to the draft." The information has been assembled in a kit underjhe heading ''Selective Service and Its Alternatives" which the Federation has distributed to 103 Reform synagogues in New York area through its youth activities department. The Federation stated that it and its parent body, the Union of American Hebrew Congregations take no official position on the draft r 'but seeks to help each young man to reach his own well thoughtout position.

Bonn (JTA)—National Democratic l e a d e r Von Thadden claims his party has established contacts with sympathetic politicians in Britain, France and the U. S., though he refused to name them. He spoke at the close of the NPD's pre-election congress in Stuttgart after 600 delegates unanimously approved a Nazi-like platform andcheered speakers who exhorted Germans to stop feeling guilty over the country's World War II deeds. Mr. Von Tbadden said he had "opened contacts" with two members of the British Parliament in the interests of the NPD's "democratic i m a g e . " He said that "political friends" in F r a n c e , including some members of Parliament, had helped the NPD approach Government authorities in Paris and that the NPD had also succeeded in approaching "important American politicians."

New York (JTA)—The Synagogue Council of America and the.National Jewish Community Relations Advisory Council, representing a great majority of the American Jewish community, issued a Joint statement rejecting the demand of the National Black Economic Development Conference for $500 million in reparations for "200 years of slavery" and its threat to seize churches and synagogues and hold them in ransom. The joint statement described the demands and the tactics as objectionable on both "moral and practical grounds." 'Yippie' Leader Rubin Voices Israel Views

Bonn (JTA) — A neo-Nazi group which declares itself to be "permeated with the spirit of our Fuehrer, Adolf Hitler," met in secret session in Hanover on Friday in defiance of a ban by, the Ministry of Interior. The group calling itself the Association of German National Socialists, is headed by Wolf-Dieter Eckart, a 29-yearold electronics engineer from Hamburg. Eckart said his group supports "the ideals of Adolf Hitler and the Third Reich" and wanted to give other Germans "the possibility of working with us for the reconstruction of Germany. We agree with all he (Hitler) did," Eckart said. "The Jews are an international problem today. They are not our job anymore."

Bonn (JTA)—Anti-Nazi demonstrators clashed in Stuttgart with delegates to the rightwing'National- Democratic Party's (NPD) convention which opened there despite objections from the city fathers. Students and t r a d e unionists shouted "Nazi pigs" and "brown rats" and hurled missiles at the 600 delegates and 400 guests as they left the meeting hall. Party chairman Adolf Von Thadden had to leave by a side t door under police protection. Study Program in Israel for Twelve Black Jewish Youths NEW YORK (JTA)—Twelve black Jewish students have been awarded scholarships for study in Israel this summer by Hatzaad JIarishon, a multi-racial organization for aid to black Jews, the organization reported this week. Three scholarships, each worth $900 remain to be awarded in the organization s two-year-old summer pilgrimage program for black Jewish students, according to directorYaacov Gladstone. The awardees are equally divided among boys and girls. They include six college students and five high school students from the New York-New Jersey area. The awardees will spend eight weeks studying,' traveling, working in kibbutzim and meeting other studenrgroups in Israel. Mr. Gladstone said that the aim of the program "is to fortify the sense of Jewish identity among the youth, their identification with Israel and to bring back the message of Israel's struggle for existence to the non-Jewish black community."

One Nechama Albert left, another.Nechama came. , „ Tongues are still wagging about the strange case of the highly popular Nechama Hendel. She first made a hit as a member of an army entertainment trpupe, then caught , the eye of Ed Sullivan when.he was here some years ago. She rocketed to fame. Upon her return to Israel she became a popular idol. Her voice was full and pleasant, and she had a wide repertoire ^of folk songs of many nations. to be known as "Helena" instead of Nechama. Radio audiences were puzzled to hear the familiar voice introduced as Helena Hendel. Then one day the press reported that she had on short notice cancelled all her scheduled engagements, s o l d her car, and flew Off to Germany to marry a g u i t a r i s t , nine years her junior, who was a follower of the same cult, Nechama's departure was a great shock to the public, but all agreed* that her personal life was her private affair, New Nechama Nechama's arrival was also a sensation.
