that Poland's crisis was precipitated last June when Communist Party chief Whidyslaw Cloiuulka slavishly f o l l o w e d Moscow's anti-Israel line on tha Six Day War and thereby iintai;onized many Poles, including some Parly officials. He said that out of sheer frustration, Gumuika interperalely attacked Polish Jev/ry, charging that Jews were "Zionists" and theriilorf potential traitors. This, said Ihe ambassador, opened a Pandora's box of anti-Semitism. Ckimulka is beinj; challeu;;e,l by Cen. 11. Moc/.ar, Interior Minister, a doctrinaire Communist who also dabbles in antiSemitism. The general appear.* likely to improve his political position in the power stru^ijlo with Gonuillcn, the envoy reported. But he expressed doubt that Gonmlka would lose hifl post, although oilier leaders may fall at a Party congress to be held next, winter.
