Brandeis University's Dean of Planning and Development Clarence Q. Berger will be the principal speaker at a dinner" for friends of Brandeis in the Omaha, Neb, area on Tuesday Nov. 22, at-6:30 p.m. at the Highland Country Club. Omaha appliance distributor Wilton S. Livingston, a supporter of the University since its early years, will be given a special presentation for his service to the University and to the community.

Chairman of the dinner is Robert M. Fcinberg, who also has been a friend of the University for many years. Dean Berger has been associated with Brandeis s i n c e its founding in 1948, when he came to the University to serve as executive assistant to President Abram L. Sachar. In 1955,.ho became Dean of University Administration, and in 10GO, Dean of University Planning and Development. He received a A.B. degree from Harvard College in 1933, and a M. A. degree from Harvard University in 1!)."JS. He subsequently served until 1937 ns a tutor and assistant in sociology at Harvard. During his years at Brandeis, he has served as a lecturer in Social Science. In 1936, Dean Berger became n research fellow with the Social Science Research Council, and in 10.17, he was appointed State Director of Education and Guidance, National Youth Administration for Massachusetts. Between 1941-43, lie was the Refiional Director of Research and Statistics for the NYA in an area covering New England, New ' York City and New State State. From 1943-47, Dean Berger was Educational Director for tho New England Region, Anti-Defamation League, and until 1918, he was assistant National Director (for Education, Research, mid Programming) for tho AntlDefamation Leaguo,

For the first time in many years, the youth group of Beth El Synagogue, "Bilu" Chapter,will host the annual convention of the Midwest Region of United Synagogue Youth. 400 delegates, including the Omaha contingent, will gather in Omaha November 24 for a 3 day stay at the Sheraton Fonteneile Hotel where all convention activities Will be held. Under the co-chairmanship of Karen G o t s d i n e r and Jim Fried, the entire Beth El chapter is involved in convention preparations. Chairmen include: Ron Wolfson, Applications; Mark

Mr. Livingston, a native-bora Oniahan and presently, semi-retired, has a long record of distinguished service to his community, to Judaism and for th* upbuilding of the .State of Israel. He has been in. Uie Covefront of Omaha communal affairs for many decades and has served in many leadership roles including presidency of tha Omaha Jewish Federation and chairman of past Jewish Philanthropies Campaigns. He is a member of the Omaha Planning Board, a leader in the Community Chest organization and has served as a member of tho Creighton University Board of Regents. A leader of the Congregation of Temple Israel, Mr. Livingston's philanthropy was largely responsible for the new education wing at the Temple, as well as the new Chapel which bears his name and that of hi3 Into wife.

A large staff is needed to run the week-Jong sale. The Book Bazaar will observe the' sanuj hours as the other Crossroads merchants. There is, therefore, a wide range of hours to fill with people who will help customers find the books they are seeking, replenish the displays and conduct the sales, Volunteers who are able to donate a few hours of their time are asked to call Mrs. Henry Greenberg (Ellie)at 553-S826; The annual Brandeis Women Book Bazaar has become a major project of community sevvice in enabling members of th» community to purchase, at nominal costs, books which might otherwise be unavailable to them. The entiro proceeds or the sale will be used to purchase books ior the Brandeis University Library in Waltham, Massachusetts.
