J. J. Mr. J. J. Isaacson, general manager and executive director of Ak-Sar-Ben, will be awarded a honorary Doctor of Laws degree by the University of Omaha at its 54th annual commencement Monday, June 3 at 5 p. m. Interest in Youth Mr, Isaacson is best known for his interest in young people during the last 50 years. He Started in 1913 when he organ-

J. J. Isaacson feed and directed the Omaha Amateur Baseball Association, he American L e g i o n Junior Uaseboll for Nebraska, superini undent of playgrounds for the Omaha Park system (1917), and jnunicipal golf association. In the early 1020's be was one of the midwest's leading boxing and wrestling promoters. JHp also served as activities man-

ager for the Omaha post of the American Legion. During World War One 'when not in the service) he organized youngsters into the "Omaha Municipal Guard." This youth organization, a few years later, gave birth to "Ak-Sar-Ben Junior City." This club flourished during the depression years. Organized Golden Gloves He organized and directed the first Golden Gloves Tournament and brought ic.fi hockey to Omaha. la 1961 the Horsemen's Benevolent and Protective Association named him "Racing Man of the Year." Joined Alt-Sar-Ben When he joined Ak-Sar-Ben in 1932 the organization was deep in debt. Mr. Isaacson "quarterbacked" the entire revitalizing of Ak-Sar-Ben, and memberships jumped from 3,796 to more than 28,000 today. In 1945 he initiated the AkSar-Ben college scholarship program that has grown from 24 to more than 400 today. He has been a faithful and ardent supporter of 4-H and FFA programs. The 4-H stock show is now the largest in the world, both in number of youngsters participating and in number of animals shown. Last year he produced "Festival of Faith," a program emphasizing a community expression of brotherhood, participated in by all religions. The program was conducted by Fred Waring and featured 87 church choirs who volunteered their services.

Tretiak stated. "However, we still have to raise some $200,000 to be able to meet our minimum needs, We must make a very special effort, through all of our campaign divisions, to reach every possible prospect. "We would be shirking our responsibilities if we did not make this extra effort now,"

Commenting on c a m p a i g n progress, Isadore Tretiak indicated that there are two reasons why the campaign must be accelerated and brought to a successful conclusion. " Need Is Vital "The most important is that the money is needed. We must continue to support the United Jewish Appeal for its work in Israel, in France and in other countries. We must also raise every possible dollar to support the vital services of our Omaha and American national agencies. "The second reason is that time is running out, and there is still a great deal of work to be done. There are many people who have not yet been contacted for their contributions. We must speed up our efforts and aim to conclude the campaign during the month of June."

Addis Ababa—The status of Israel as a friend of Africa was diimonstrated here at the summit conference, Abdul Nasser being forced to admit defeat for the first time at any African Parley. The Egyptian leader declared in his address to the summit on Friday that he would not submit the Israel issue for discussion so as to prove Egypt came to the summit with an "open mind and goodwill and without selfishness, reservations and demands." Nasser's moderation was decided on after assessing the situation on his arrival here and appreciating that any resolution aimed against Israel would be defeated. Furthermore, his allies in the Casablanca bloc, realizing that Israel has many more friends than enemies at the conference, were reluctant to support any anti-Israel move. Nasser threatened that he and other Arab delegates w o u l d break up the summit opening and leave Addis Ababa if the
