Maurice Samuel Na JWV Urges Attendance A special menage to all member* of the Jewish War Veterans and their families was Issued tffls week by Abe S. Miller, Commander of the Epstein-Morgan Poat No. 260, urging full attendance at the Tercentenary-Federation meeting Sunday evening, Dec. 12, at the Center. In his message, Commander Miller said: "The Jewish War Veteran Is listed on the very first pages of American History. His history begins In (he year 1654, with Asscr Levy one of the first Jews to arirlvo in the New World, fighting for his right to fight. His history continues through the Revolutionary War, the War of 1812, on both Sides of the Civil War, the Span* ish American War, World War I. World War II and finally to the conflict in Korea. "Because this history of the Jewish War Veteran Is the history of Jews in the United States of America, as Commander of the local Epstein-Morgan Post, JWV, I urge every Jewish War Veteran and hi* family to attend the Joint Tercentenary Fote'to be held In conjunction with the Annual Federation Meeting, at the Jewish Community Center, Sunday night, Dec. }2."

Special Exhibit A special exhibit o! Jewish Americana will be displayed at the combined Federation Annual Meeting and American Jewish Tercentenary Observance to bo held Sunday evening, Deo. 12, at B o'clock, in the Jewish Community Center. Tho exhibit will include largo posters depicting American Jewixh Life, ail new publications issued in connection with tho American Jewish Tercentenary, and historical materials of the Omaha Jewish Community,

$30,000 in First Response To Cosh Drive. Feder Reports About $30,000 in cash has come In during the past few days in response to the special Cash Appeal of the Jewish Philanthropies, David Fcdcr, Pledge Redemption chairman, reported today. "This Initial response Is most encouraging to all of us," Mr. Feder said, "because It means that we will be In a position to start making payments to some 200 agencies which receive funds from the annual Philanthropies Campaign. This list Includes Omahn, national and overseas agencies and institutions. Every Jew In Omaha has a deep concern 'and Interest in all of them," Mr. Fedcr concluded. From Initial estimates, it appears that an additional $100,000 In cash will have to come In during the month of December, to enable the Philanthropies to meet commitments to agendes which fall due at this time.

"So far," Mr. Feder Indicated, payments have been mailed by subscribers In response to our Initial call. We earnestly hope that we can avoid; setting up Bpedal follow-up committees to gather in the cash. Omahans have always maintained an excellent record In this respect, and we hope that wo can save many hours of volunteer efforts, if the response continues as It began."

city to promote the sale of, the new Israel Bonds will be held Sunday, Dec, 12, by volunteers from all community organizations led by Dr. Abe Greenberg, Omaha Chairman of the Israel Bond Board of Governor*. BIG (Bonds of the Israel Government) Day was announced by Dr. Greenberg this week In a call to all bond purchasers and workers to join with him at the Jewish Community Center at 9 a. m., on December 12. Organization presidents, ea well as member* of the bond board of governon, were asked to call the Bond office at ATlantlc 1177 the names of aft VIPs (Volunteers for Israel's Progress) before Wednesday. "Omaha has the opportunity of being one of the few communities in the United States to top all previous years' sales by December 15," Dr. Greenberg said. "On that date, we have secured the nationally-known Llgd Brothers for an evening of unusual and hilarious entertainment at the Blackstone Hotel. We are already close to last year'* total sales and, With the help of a large crew of volunteers on BIG Day, there is no doubt we can EQ well over the top. Maurice Samuel, one ot America's most popular and dynamic speakers, noted author, novelist and traveler, will be the gue»t speaker at the combined Annual Meeting of the Jewish Federation and the community's observance of the American Jewish Tercentenary, marking the 300th anniversary of Jewish settlement in America on Sunday evening,'December 12, at 8 o'clock, at the Jewish Community Center. The announcement was. made by J. H a r r y Kulakofsky, Federation president, and Rabbi Myer S. Krip. ke, chairman of the Omaha Ter» centenary Committee, / Significance Rabbi Krlpke stated that th» Tercentenary C o m m 111 e had searched for a long time for s suitable speaker for this occasion, and finally chose Maurice Samuel "We believe that Maurice Samuel can bring to-the Omaha Jewish Community a proper appreciation ot the slgmilcancc of the Jewish Tercentenary in America," he said, Maurice Samuel, he added, is a well-known personality to Omaha Jewry, since he has been hi our community on several occasion*, and always attracted large audiences. "His participation will make this a truly outstanding and memorable occasion," Rabbi Kripke emphasized. Aw&td* To Be Given As a part of the Annual Meet* ing, special awards will be given to the leaders of the 1954 Jewish Philanthropies -Campaign In recognition of their successful efforts in the drive for the support of some 200 agencies, J. Harry Kulakotsky, Federation President, said. 'We hope, too," he said, "to be able to announce the campaign leadership of the 1955 Drive." All members of the Jewish community are invited to attend this important occasion.

Young Adult Dance Saturday Night The opening Young Adult Dance will be at the JCC this Saturday evening, Dec. 4 from 9 p. m. to 1 a. m. Dan Burns and his baud, vrtll play for dancing.
