The greatest single cause of pain, suffering, crime is due to one single word—that is lonesomeness. Man is a gregarious animal—a social being. Given the^ right association and the right environment there is a good future before each boy or girl. Given the wrong environment and the wrong eompanionship jast the reverse will be true. What a young man or a young woman does the first hour after dinner in the evening determines in large measure his or her entire course in life. That hour is perhaps the most critical of the entire day. What to do with one's leasure time is more important to the individual than what one should do during working hours, for there are rules, regulations and routine during working hours, but there are none during leasure hours. Therefore the danger. The Y. M. H. A. tends to utilize those dangerous leasure hours making . them productive of jrood rather than of evil. The Y. 3VI. H. A. provides . dances, . clubs, grou}> entertainments and the multiplicity of social activities that keep the boy and the -girl away from places where there is a strong temptation to go astray. At present we are housed in very limited quarters in our Community Center at the Lyric Building, but as Mr. Sam Beber told you in the earlier part of this program, there will be erected in the immediate future at the northeast corner of 20th and Dodge Sts., in this city, directly opposite the Omaha Central High School a very beautiful structure to be known as the Jewish Community Center.
