W E L C OM E Dear Friends, Thank you for joining us as we support the power, impact and influence of women in our community, while strengthening the diverse mental health and social services that Jewish Family Service provides to anyone in need. Today we will hear from the incredible Dr. Jill Biden, a leader and positive influence on so many causes shaping our communities for the better, visit with friends and community leaders, and make a meaningful difference in the lives touched by JFS. For over 65 years, JFS has continued to meet the evolving needs of the community by developing comprehensive resources for all ages and incomes. This includes diagnostic testing and play therapy for children; counseling for at-risk teens; individual, marital and family therapy; family violence intervention; help finding employment; emergency assistance; food pantry access; and older adult services. Since our last Woman to Woman event two years ago, JFS has expanded our services through the addition of programs like Transitional Housing for victims of crime and PLAN Clubhouse for adults with mental illness, while strengthening programs like Career & Employment Services through a strategic program overhaul. This could not be done without you, as exemplified by your outpouring of support in our response to Hurricane Harvey relief efforts. As “An Open Door to All in Need,” our fee scale, which can slide to $0 if necessary, and our ability to provide confidential services for as long as needed, make us inclusive and accessible. National accreditation by the Council on Accreditation and successful service outcomes underscore the quality of our efficient and effective “one stop shop of coordinated care” in addressing the wide variety of life’s challenges. Additionally, JFS continues to maintain a 4-Star Charity Navigator rating, an honor that places JFS among the top six percent of nonprofits nationally. Our heartfelt thanks to our co-chairs Susan Frapart, Linda Garner, Sherry Goldberg, Julie Liberman, Beverly Rossel, Monica Susman, Laura Weinstein and our event visionary, Ethel Zale, for their tireless efforts. Thank you to our honorary co-chairs, Paddy Epstein, Ann Kahn, Lisa Kleinman and Ann Rosenberg, whose commitment to our work is greatly appreciated. This year the co-chairs also decided to honor the JFS staff for their tireless work in support of our mission, helping JFS serve over 13,000 clients last year. E MC EE After a 40 year career in broadcast journalism, Gloria Campos retired as a TV news anchor in March, 2014. Gloria started as an intern and scholarship recipient with KGBTTV in the Rio Grande Valley of Texas in 1974 and joined that station full time after graduating from SW Texas State University (now, Texas State University) in 1976. She worked there in a variety of positions before joining WFAA-TV in Dallas as general assignments reporter in 1984. She quickly worked her way up the ranks becoming the full time 5, 6 & 10pm anchor for the next 20 years in addition to producing the station’s weekly Wednesday’s Child reports for twenty years. Campos' extensive community involvement includes: the Dallas Summit, the (DFW) Network of Hispanic Communicators and National Association of Hispanic Journalists. Recognitions and awards for Campos include: 2013 winner of Texas Trailblazer Award from The Family Place; 2013 UNT Mayborn School of Journalism Distinguished Professional Achievement Award; 2013 Texas State University Alumni Achievement Award; Texas State University School of Journalism and Mass Communication Alumnus of the Year, 2012 D Magazine Readers’ Choice Best TV Broadcaster in Dallas; In 2010, Gloria was elected to the National Hispanic Journalists Hall of Fame; 2010 American Women in TV/Broadcast News Award of Excellence; 2010 Texas Tech University Double T Award for Excellence in Community Service; 2007 Fort Worth Star Telegram Reader’s Choice Best TV Newswoman; 2007 “Women in Spirit” award from the American Congress of Jewish Women Dallas Chapter; 2007 The DALLAS 25 – one of the North Texas region’s most influential residents; 2006 American Women in Radio and Television Dallas/Fort Worth Chapter – Broadcast News Personality: Award of Excellence; 2002 Mother of the Year (one of 3 recipients) from Dallas Can! Academy; 2001 Buck Marryat award for career achievement from the Press Club of Dallas; the 2001 Woman of the Year award from Les Femmes du Monde; Lifetime Achievement award from Women in Film in 1997; 1995 Women Helping Women Award, from Women’s Center of Dallas; 1994 Association of Women in Radio and Television “TV Personality of the Year” award, and in 1991 the recipient of Girls Inc.’s “She Know Where She’s Going” award. Gloria currently serves on the Advisory Board of the College of Fine Arts and Communication. Texas Intercollegiate Press Association Hall of Fame and an honorary lifetime member of the Texas PTA. Gloria and husband, Lance, have been married for more than 36 years and have two college age sons, Greg and Tony. When not volunteering in the community or mentoring young people, Gloria enjoys reading, gardening, movies, collecting, and spending time with her family outdoors, especially camping. Gloria’s interests include education, women, and family issues. 8

KE Y NO T E S PE A K ER Jill Biden, wife of Vice President Joe Biden, is a mother and grandmother, a lifelong educator, a proud military mom, and an active member of her community. With the February 2017 launch of the Biden Foundation, Jill Biden and her husband will continue their commitment to strengthening the middle class, protecting women and children against violence, and supporting community colleges and military families. As Second Lady, Dr. Biden worked to bring attention to the sacrifices made by military families, to highlight the importance of community colleges to America’s future, and to raise awareness around areas of particular importance to women, including breast cancer prevention, all while continuing to teach as a full-time English professor at a community college in Northern Virginia. Dr. Biden has always said that community colleges are “one of America’s best kept secrets.” As a teacher, she sees how community colleges have changed the lives of so many of her students for the better. As Second Lady, she worked to underscore the critical role of community colleges in creating the best, mosteducated workforce in the world. In 2012, she traveled across the country as part of the “Community College to Career” tour to highlight successful industry partnerships between community colleges and employers. In the fall of 2010, she hosted the first-ever White House Summit on Community Colleges with President Obama, and she continued to work on this outreach on behalf of the Administration – visiting campuses, meeting with students and teachers, as well as industry representatives around the country. As a military mom, Dr. Biden understands firsthand how difficult it can be to have a loved one deployed overseas. Dr. Biden’s children’s book – Don’t Forget, God Bless Our Troops – was released in June 2012. Inspired by real-life events, the book tells the story of a military family’s experience with deployment through the eyes of Dr. Biden’s granddaughter, Natalie, during the year her father is deployed to Iraq. The book also includes resources about what readers can do to support military service members and their families. Through their Joining Forces initiative, First Lady Michelle Obama and Dr. Biden issued a national challenge to all Americans to take action and find ways to support and engage our military families in their own 10

Joining Forces aims to educate, challenge, and spark action from all sectors of our society – citizens, communities, businesses, non-profits, faith-based institutions, philanthropic organizations, and government – to ensure that service members, veterans, and their families have the tools they need to succeed throughout their lives. At JoiningForces.gov, Americans can find many ways to take action. In 1993, after four of her friends were diagnosed with breast cancer, Dr. Biden started the Biden Breast Health Initiative in Delaware, which has educated more than 10,000 high school girls about the importance of early detection of breast cancer. Dr. Biden and the Vice President have also served as the Honorary Co-Chairs for the Global Race for the Cure in Washington, D.C. As Second Lady, Dr. Biden continued to stress the importance of breast cancer research and early detection. Dr. Biden has been an educator for more than three decades. Prior to moving to Washington, D.C., she taught English at a community college in Delaware, at a public high school and at a psychiatric hospital for adolescents. Dr. Biden earned her Doctorate in Education from the University of Delaware in January of 2007. Her dissertation focused on maximizing student retention in community colleges. She also has two Master’s Degrees — both of which she earned while working and raising a family. Jill and Joe’s daughter, Ashley, is a social worker and Executive Director of the Delaware Center for Justice; their son, Beau (1969-2015), was a lawyer, former Attorney General of the State of Delaware, and a Major in the Delaware Army National Guard; and the Bidens’ other son, Hunter, is a lawyer and Chairman of the World Food Program USA. They have a son-in-law, Howard, two daughters-in-law, Hallie and Kathleen, and are the proud grandparents of five incredible grandchildren: Naomi, Finnegan, Maisy, Natalie, and Hunter. The oldest of five sisters, Jill Jacobs was raised just outside of Philadelphia.

V O L UNT E E R OPP OR T U N IT IE S Each year more than 1,200 individuals and families come forward to help us accomplish our work in the community. Some people visit an isolated older adult for a conversation and a cup of tea while others serve on committees to help plan and organize events, such as this premier fundraiser. Some work with their children to collect food for the agency’s Food Pantry, others put their hands to work in our Resale Shop and some help to deliver meals to older adults in need. Every volunteer plays a critical role in enabling JFS to serve our community.
FOOD PANTRY Volunteers are needed to join our “Monday Muscle” team to assist with unloading and stocking our weekly deliveries from North Texas Food Bank, Trader Joe’s, Snap Kitchen and Kroger. Re-stockers are needed during and after shopping days to make sure shelves are full for the next day’s clients.
SUPPLY DRIVES Volunteers of all ages collect needed food items for our Food Pantry. We also collect personal hygiene items and kits, diapers, “birthday bags” and spice packs to offer variety in our Food Pantry.
HOLIDAY GIFT BASKETS Volunteers assist JFS in compiling and delivering 650 baskets all over the Metroplex for both Passover and Rosh Hashanah, bringing holiday greetings to those in need.

FOOD PANTRY EXPERIENCE Schedule a Food Pantry Experience for your group - This program involves learning the value of a dollar and simulates living at or below the poverty line. Youth groups have a discussion about hunger, health, and what kind of foods you can buy with a limited income. Groups finish the experience by restocking the shelves in the JFS Food Pantry with what was purchased. CORPORATE GROUPS JFS is happy to host a “Day of Impact” or day of volunteerism for your company working in the Food Pantry, at The Resale Shop, delivering Kosher Home Delivered Meals and assisting with various projects around our agency.

Transitional Housing Update
We have placed 10 families into apartments as a part of the new Transitional Housing Program that supports victims of crime with up to 18 months of housing combined with our other comprehensive services, such as counseling, financial coaching, and access to our food pantry. The program was established following the best-practice “Housing First� Transitional Housing model for victims experiencing physical, emotional or sexual abuse with the goal for victims to be able to transition to safe, more self-sufficient lives. Thank you to our dedicated staff and volunteers who got these apartments ready and feeling like home in record time!
JFS Office Renovations
In Fall 2017, we painted all the walls at our main office, added new carpet and beautiful artwork, updated the reception area and Food Pantry waiting room. We also built out four new offices to maximize space for new staff. The "refresh" doesn't stop there... Thanks to the recommendation of Dallas City Council member, Lee Kleinman, the Apartment Association of Greater Dallas (AAGD) made some important upgrades at our main office. Projects included renovations to the Food Pantry, staff and volunteer break room, flooring, and adding building safety precautions. We can't wait to unveil the new and improved JFS to our supporters! Organize a food drive within your organizations benefiting the JFS Food Pantry. We are able to feed thousands of food insecure individuals who come through SUPPORT THE RESALE SHOP! our doors with the help of the Dallas community. Last year’s drives resulted in Bring your gently used items to the party for a chance to win raffle prizes! over 17,000 individual food and hygiene items from five different organizations. Please help us break records by donating non-perishable food. Contact jdenison@jfsdallas.org for more information about how to organize a drive. Bring your own picnic or Kosher food will be available for purchase. No alcohol permitted. Enjoy face-painting & outdoor games!
North Texas Giving Day (NTGD) • September 20
North Texas Giving Day is an 18-hour online giving extravaganza for local nonprofit organizations! Through your NTGD donations last year, JFS raised nearly $54,000! 34

The Special Needs Partnership at Jewish Family Service's “SNP Honors” recognizes outstanding contributors and role models for advancing the special needs movement in our community. The event also raises important dollars to support the Partnership’s work year round. We are very grateful to all of the community partners who are highly deserving of our gratitude for making Dallas a more inclusive city and for all of their efforts that have so positively impacted so many individuals and families.
Diaper Shower • Oct. 21
Did you know that food stamps don’t cover diapers? Without diapers, a child can’t go to daycare and without daycare, a parent can’t go to work to support the family. That’s why every year we ask the community to join us in stocking the JFS Food Pantry with diapers, pull-ups, and wipes for families in need. In 2017, we collected a record breaking 118,165 diapers and 67,573 wipes!
