O U R CO M M U N I T Y S E R V E D 2017- 2018 1,841 job seekers utilized our Job Search Resource Center, Employment Resource Group seminars, career networking program, individualized career counseling and/or employment workshops. 2,935 children benefited from school mental-health consultation to Jewish preschools, day schools, supplemental schools and camps. 1,607 older adults received one or more services to help them remain safe and independent in their homes.
862 adults, teens and children received age-appropriate individual or family counseling, including children and adults with special needs. 453 women, men and children received family violence intervention services. 5,563 adults and children received healthy, nutritious food that prevented hunger. 13,000+ lives touched in the Greater Dallas community

P R O G R A M U P DAT E S FOOD PANTRY • We now have a Food Pantry truck and driver dedicated to picking up donations from community and corporate partners in Dallas three days a week. • Because we can pick up more donations, we have developed new partnerships including Whole Foods, Target, Walmart, additional SNAP Kitchen location. CAREER & FINANCIAL SERVICES • We held our first multi-company Career Fair which included 12 businesses and more than 200 job seekers. The results of the Fair have included new business relationships, funding and jobs for many of our clients. • We have experienced our first wait list for services in this program. This is due to an average of 15 new clients per week at our Monday Orientations and former clients seeking new or expanded opportunities. MENTAL HEALTH • In April, we launched a counseling center in the Roseland Park community modeled after our best practice program/partnership in the Jubilee Park area. • Cancer Support Services has worked to increase awareness to the Jewish community. Integrating psychology and Jewish perspective into programming, it has selected a new moniker, Binah, which in hebrew means “connecting women to their inner wisdom.” PLAN OF NORTH TEXAS • Members have redefined the PLAN acronym to say “People Living Active Now”! • PLAN moved into it’s Clubhouse in August; offering opportunities to build community and create meaningful work for those with severe and persistent mental illness. OLDER ADULTS • We have expanded to have three Caregiver Support groups a month. • For the first time in our program history, we are serving a record number of 14 Holocaust survivors. • Rabbi Wolk has a new video blog update monthly on our Chaplaincy services. FAMILY VIOLENCE/TRANSITIONAL HOUSING • The Transitional Housing program completed its first full year in operation. A total of 47 victims of crime have benefitted from this program with shelter, childcare, and safety planning. SPECIAL NEEDS PARTNERSHIP • We welcomed Lorraine Friedman as our first full time Program Director and will launch an interactive calendar of resources to the community this Summer. • We are working in partnership with the Jewish Federation and our Jewish Schools to double existing school based intervention services for children with special needs. AGENCY-WIDE • For its seventh consecutive year, JFS has been recognized as a 4-star charity with Charity Navigator. Only 6% of all charities in the nation have achieved this recognition. • A total of $120,000 of unrestricted operating support was generated for JFS programs through our thrift store, The Resale Shop. Due to this success, we are proud to have opened a second store in Garland.
