INTRODUCING Color
A LETTER FROM OUR OWNERS informs every decision we make as designers. It possesses
the ability to pronounce brands, enhance moods, and encourage wellbeing. Our culture and lives are full of color so why shouldn’t our interiors reflect that? If you know the #JTIGems, you know we’ll never shy away from using a little color! For years we’ve been highlighting the colors of the year selected by our industry’s greats. However, the time has arrived for us to put our foot forward and share with you, our beloved network of friends and colleagues, what colors we see trending for this year. We chose Pantone to call out the colors we selected for 2022 as it offers specific yet unbiased coding for our readers. Pantone has been at the forefront of color trends forever, it’s the go-to color reference guide for the design industry. In our team’s research and collaboration, it quickly became apparent that the colors we found trending corresponded to the birthstones of each month, so you’ll find our forecast organized that way!
Our hope is that this Gemzine brings you inspiration and encouragement, paired with a little dose of humor. If you’ve smiled at least once while flipping through these pages, we’ll consider it a success! So, are you ready to see what 2022 has to offer through color? LET’S GO!!!

JANUARY Garnet Maybe it was the cabernet being served at recent holiday parties or perhaps the garnet outfits worn by many at various soirees, but we are just not ready to give this wine inspired hue up yet! PMS 195C is sultry and classic yet somehow possesses a rebellious attitude. It’s edgy sophistication all rolled up into a jewel tone! We’d pair this color with techy grays or espresso for a more masculine interior or use it in velvet with cathedral-grained woods to set the tone in an upscale Italian restaurant.

FEBRUARY Amethyst

We love the juxtaposition between the depth of January’s color and the happiness of February’s pastel, PMS 5215C. This amethyst-inspired hue pairs wonderfully with terracotta and goldenrod, since they’re opposite on the color wheel. It’s an understated hue that embodies romance with a blend of purple and gray.

MARCH Aquamarine Anyone who knows me knows I LOVE this color! I had my front door painted a deep teal once and you probably see me wearing various shades of it often. It might come as no surprise that March also happens to be my birth month! PMS 317C is light and bright. It somehow feels both reinvigorating and relaxing, probably because it reminds you of a cool ocean breeze.

Did you realize that Interior Design bridges the gap between art and science? Out-of-the-box thinking paired with considering multiple possibiliites is key to designing a successful space. This involves intetional dialogue with the client in addition to research, observation and experiment!

“Lighting is a critical component to design, if not the most important. We can manipulate how a space is seen through light, whether is it the temperature to feel cold or warm or the intensity to highlight texture or create dramatic shadow. Often we say lighting adds sexiness to an interior space!” - Jaclyn
What color do you think of when you think of your favorite person? “The first color that comes to mind is YELLOW! Yellow screams happiness and that is the exact emotion I feel when I see my favorite person.” - Devon
“Color is a very interesting component of our everyday life. It can change your emotions and your perspective about the size of a room. If combined the right way, it creates wonderful environments for many to enjoy.” - Suzette
What color makes you feel fresh?

“I love citron. I think it adds a fresh, modern feel to any space. I have pops of this color throughout my home and it brings me joy.” - Megan
Did you know that all JTI Clients are called Diamonds? We value and appreciate their trust so it felt right to elevate their name behind the scenes. It’s tricky to pick a color to represent a diamond because of its specular nature. We chose a silvery tone in PMS 423C to represent the brilliance of this color. Cool, crisp and elegant, this tone is a perfect neutral for almost any other color but we love to pair it with denim blues to mix it up a bit!

MAY Emerald “Green is my all time favorite color! I believe it stems from my love for the outdoors. Nature inspires me, whether that’s my feet in the grass, a big gulp of fresh air at the beach, or hiking within dense forest trees, various shades of green are always nearby.” - Jaclyn

Another color that immediately comes to mind when you think of jewel tones, is emerald. It became very trendy (again) a couple of years back but we don’t see it going anywhere. As people spend so much time at home due to the pandemic, the love of indoor plants and gardening skills has been surfacing more and more. As a sixth-generation Floridian, I’m naturally drawn to PMS 7729 as it represents much of our landscape. We love to pair it with crisp white and natural elements like bamboo, cork, or raffia for an interior that’s both calming and vibrant.

The simplicity and beauty found in a pearl is a welcome sight for June. At the height of the summer, this warm white offers a respite after the jewel-toned boldness colors we’ve highlighted so far. My business partner Jaclyn was born in June and if you know her, she’s like a breath of fresh air. PMS 7527 perfectly embodies that!

JULY Ruby Turning the volume up again, ruby red is represented by PMS 185C. We see it showing up in large doses as colors trending over the past few years have been more subdued shades and this color is unapologetically RED. It will galvanize any interior space with a burst of energy, even if only used in a minimal amount, such as the powder-coating of a barstool leg or the cord of a light fixture.

AUGUST Peridot Peridot, the often overlooked birthstone of August is showing up in fashion, branding, and interior accents. PMS 380C represents the brighter aspects of peridot, with a nod towards neon. This lime-inspired shade is inherently refreshing, adding zing

You can think of this inky blue like denim, it coordinates with almost any other color! As such, we prefer to pair it with a contrasting bright like fuschia or burnt orange. It’s a Floridan favorite which should come as no shock since this state is a peninsula, surrounded by deep waters.

With a stone like an opal, you can’t choose just one color. The whimsy and magic of unicorns have been on-trend for several years and we don’t see them disappearing anytime soon. (You might remember our Design Mix submission in 2019, we were here for it then, too!) We paired the cotton candy hues of PMS 2706C and PMS 706C to illuminate this month with two ethereal hues.

Earth tones are back in full force! The ’90s can call but, and we’re not going to hand them all over. We chose PMS 7572C as it’s topaz with a slight orange tint to it. I mean, does camel-colored upholstery ever really go out of fashion?!

DECEMBER Tanzanite An exquisite stone that reads both blue and purple,
tanzanite is represented by PMS 7455C. This color has been trending for some time in fashion and branding but we also see it showing up in both residential and commercial spaces. It possesses nobility and drama yet can act as a neutral, taking backstage when necessary.
