THE MUSIC FOLK HEROES TO TODAY’S GLOBAL STARS From humble roots to rhinestone suits, Americana singers to stadium-show stars, this music soundtracks the daily lives of listeners around the world. Its shared truth and timeless themes of joy and heartbreak inspire fans across generations. The tools of this American tradition live in the vast collection here at the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum in downtown Nashville. Each instrument, each piece of stage wear or pair of boots remain as singular and storied as the singers and pickers who used them to create music that resonates across time.

THE DEFINITIVE COLLECTION TELLS THE STORY OF AMERICAN ROOTS MUSIC The Museum’s collection of American roots artifacts is unrivaled. Priceless instruments, hand-crafted boots and guitar straps, painstakingly customized rhinestone suits—these are the visual language of country, Americana, blues, and beyond. COUNTRY & WESTERN FROM ROOTS TO RHINESTONES

Ablaze with vibrant colors and sparkling with rhinestones, country music performers have been lighting up stages and turning heads in spectacular, custom-designed Western wear since the late 1940s. Under dim lights and thick smoke, musicians in honky-tonks and nightclubs had to go the extra mile to command an audience’s attention.
