“The land of the free and the home of the brave.” This iconic line captures the American spirit. For 250 years, this spirit has been defined by those willing to venture farther, build bigger, and pursue opportunities that involve risk.
Perhaps that’s why the Pilatus PC-12 has found its true home here. When the aircraft was introduced to the US market in 1994/95, people were skeptical yet in awe. How can a single-engine aircraft perform so well?!
I remember these early days well. It was my job, as well as a few other courageous folks, to convince the type-A millionaire business owner that spending his hardearned entrepreneurial dollars on a Swissmade aircraft was a good idea. Mission accomplished!
While the PC-12 was designed and built in Switzerland, nearly 80 percent of the world’s fleet calls the United States home. And that’s not a coincidence. It says something about the airplane and the people who fly it.
Americans have always embraced tools that create opportunity and solve problems. From railroads, to the first automobile and from the interstate highway system to general aviation, mobility has fueled innovation, entrepreneurship, and growth. The PC-12 naturally fits into that tradition.
Over the years, it’s earned nicknames like the “Turbine Suburban™,” and for good reason. Or as some of us used to say, “it’s the SwissArmy Rolex” of aircraft. It can carry your family (or two) to a weekend getaway, a business owner and employees to multiple cities in a day, a medical team to a remote community, and supplies to places the airlines simply cannot reach. It is as comfortable on a paved runway as it is on a rural airstrip. That kind of versatility mirrors the diverse needs of American aviation.
The typical PC-12 owner isn’t buying an airplane simply to own an airplane. They’re buying time. They’re buying access. They’re buying flexibility.
Pilatus owners are deeply committed to the principle that they have the freedom to create opportunities on their own schedule, instead of someone else’s. That they shall garner the fruits of their labor and risk. That’s distinctly an American mindset.
As we celebrate 250 years of independence, it’s worth remembering that freedom is more than just a historical milestone. It’s something that continues to be lived every day by great people who build businesses, support communities, connect families, and explore new frontiers.
Aviation has always been one of the greatest expressions of that freedom and Pilatus owners are fortunate enough to carry this torch.
The Wright brothers proved powered flight was possible. Generations of American aviators transformed the nation by shrinking distances and connecting people. Today, aircraft like the PC-12 continue the legacy—not because it’s American-made, but because it embodies the values Americans have always admired: capability, reliability, practicality, and the confidence to go wherever opportunity leads.
The PC-12 may have been born in Switzerland. But it found its home in America.
And that feels exactly right.

So, you’ve found the perfect Pilatus. Fantastic! At JetSwiss, we take it one step further—making sure it’s fully inspected and truly move-in ready. That’s where our Aircraft Condition Evaluation (ACE), comes in.
JetSwiss’ expert technicians and flight crews evaluate each specific aircraft, examining the logbooks and records, conducting visual inspections, multiple test flights, engine exams, calculating future maintenance cost projections, etc. This summary or ‘ACE’ report provides our clients with a detailed look at every rivet, component, and record for a subject aircraft.

We take pictures and video of every scratch, divot, and rivet to document the condition of the aircraft.
Borescope Inspection
Using advanced equipment, we conduct an in-house borescope inspection to evaluate the heart of the aircraft—the engine.
Documented Loose Equipment
We document all loose equipment, such as aircraft covers and software install kits to ensure your move is as smooth as possible.
Maintenance Analysis Examination
This provides you with a detailed maintenance status for the aircraft, as well as cost projections for up to three years into the future.

American Aviation History
The Wright Flight Flying Mail
1903
When Orville Wright and Wilbur Wright launched their Flyer at Kitty Hawk, the first powered flight lasted just 12 seconds and traveled only 120 feet, which is shorter than the wingspan of many modern business aircraft.
The brothers weren’t engineers. In fact, they were the only members of the Wright family who did not attend college. Instead, they ran a bicycle sales and repair shop.
In 1908, the Wrights signed a contract with the US Army for delivering a machine capable of flying for at least one hour with an average speed of 40 miles per hour. They completed the mission in 1909 and received a bonus for creating something that exceeded 40 miles per hour.
Interesting Fact: There were only 66 years between the Wright Brothers’ first flight to the landing on the moon!
1918
The launch of America’s first scheduled airmail service was in 1918 between Washington D.C, and New York City, using War Department planes and pilots.
Air mail proved that aircraft could move information and commerce faster than ever before, reducing delivery times from weeks to days.
Interesting Fact: Early pilots flew without radios, GPS, weather radar, or modern navigation systems. Many followed railroad tracks and roads below.

Single Pilot. Single Engine. One Ocean.
1927
In 1927, 25-year-old Charles Lindbergh departed New York aboard the Spirit of St. Louis and flew nonstop to Paris.
The journey covered more than 3,600 miles and lasted 33½ hours. To carry enough fuel, the aircraft didn’t even have a traditional forward windshield. Lindbergh navigated using side windows and a periscope.
His accomplishment captured the world’s imagination and sparked a surge in aviation interest around the globe.
Interesting Fact: The production of aircraft nearly quadrupled in the years following Lindbergh’s flight. He showed what was possible.

Jet Off Into the Sunset The Moon Walk
1950s
By the 1950s, jet-powered aircraft were transforming aviation. Military technology developed during World War II found its way into commercial service, allowing aircraft to fly higher, faster, and farther than ever before.
In 1958, Boeing 707 entered commercial service and helped usher in the Jet Age, shrinking the world and making international travel more accessible. What once took days could now be accomplished in hours.
This changed how businesses operated, how families traveled, and how the world was connected.
Interesting Fact: In 1958, a round-trip economy ticket from New York to Paris would cost around $272. With inflation, the price today would be around $3,000.
1969 Today
In 1961, John F. Kennedy set the national objective to land on the moon. Eight years later, the crew of Apollo 11 did just that.
The computers that guided the 239,000mile mission had less processing power than smartphones today (64 KB of memory). Yet they helped achieve one of humanity’s greatest accomplishments.
Interesting Fact: Saturn V, the rocket used for the mission, generated about 7.5 million pounds of thrust during takeoff. A fully loaded Pilatus PC-12 weighs about 10,500 pounds, meaning the rocket generated enough thrust to lift the equivalent of more than 700 PC-12s at once.
The Pilatus PC-12 wasn’t crafted in America, but Americans certainly adopted it.
Today, nearly 80% of the world’s PC-12 fleet operates in North America. The PC12 reflects something Americans have always valued: freedom and practicality. Freedom to leave when you want. Freedom to land where the airlines can’t. Freedom to bring your family, your business partners, your golf clubs, your dogs, or all of the above.
