Edison
Over the past months, the Edison KIWIN'S board has been settling into their new positions and focused on training. With this slow start, Edison had a fairly high attendance at Jet Banquet/DCM while volunteering in various marathons at OC fair. Edison is ready to plan many events for our members, including fundraisers, volunteer events and socials, which will consist of a collaborative bonfire social with Marina, Segerstrom, HB Community, and Los Amigos, and a baking social. We will also host a Kiwanis takeover soon!
Fountain Valley
The month of May has been very eventful for FV KIWIN’S. We have smoothly installed both our Executive and Appointed board for the 2024-2025 school year just before a very successful DCON where we won over 25 awards! We started the term with a bunch of events such as Movie in the Park with the FV Rec Center, Hoag OC Marathon, and Night Nation Run (which was in coordination with jet kiwins), and we have accumulated a total of 139.5 hours for the month of May. We are also planning on distributing our Kiwanis stoles for our beloved seniors soon before they graduate. In the month of June, we had our Wingstop fundraiser and 7Leaves fundraiser where we raised a total of $129.49! To end the month off, we also had our purbowls fundraiser on June 29th! We hosted our end of the year banquet on June 26th, which was Avatar: the Last Airbender themed, which had a great turnout. At banquet, we distributed our board badges, and are now planning on ordering board cardigans. We also are announcing our summer committee on July 1st. We have accumulated a total of 128 hours in the month of June. so far we have four events lined up for July, one of them being selling agua fresca at the HB Kiwanis 4th of July pancake breakfast. Great job kiwis!
Garden Grove
During the month of May-June, GG KIWIN’S has been honestly inactive as of the past 2 months to the busyness of all board members have other obligations and duties in the summer. However, putting aside from that, our board were able to come together by the end of July to have our first ever bonding! We enjoyed various activities from the incoherent card game, Just Dance, karaoke, and as well watched the newest Inside Out 2 movie. This has brought us closer together and build on that OHANA spirit, which continue to motivate us even more to have the greatest term of the year! EVERYONE WELCOME OUR NEWEST BOARD MEMBERS TO THE OHANA FAMILY: ASHTON, VY, TRINA, JC, TERESA, AND SHIRLEY!!
HB Community
HB Community is a club that doesn't have a school behind it. We come from all different schools to meet together. We did a board bonding event early on in the summer to meet each other and introduce ourselves. We are currently planning for the July 4th sale. In which we will be selling spam musubi for $3 or 2 for $5. We got our board badges delivered to us after a few delays. We are getting ready for our world’s finest chocolate fundraiser in mid to late July as well. So far the future is looking bright for us!
La Quinta
For the months of May and June, LQ KIWIN’S has been actively organizing service events. We held 7 events in these months and accumulated 328 service hours. One event being the Fountain Valley Summerfest, where we assisted our sponsoring Kiwanis at their ice cream booth! We also held our first board social and are planning future service events for our members!
Los Amigos
Within the month of May, Los Amigos KIWIN’S held one service event- the Strawberry Festival and had a banquet with Los Amigo’s Key Club. As for the month of June, there were 28 hours of service through the one service event- Summerfest! Within June, we also held a fundraiser where we sold matcha cookies at the jet banquet.
Marina
In the month of May, we had our ap encouragement notes social where we handcrafted notes to motivate students taking AP exams. We also started our Worlds Finest Chocolate Fundraiser. We then began to plan for our club banquet In the month of June, we raised over $400 from our World’s Finest Chocolate Fundraiser and successfully held our club banquet. We also had a successful time volunteering at the Urban Forest cleaning the park!
OCSA
OCSA KIWIN’S, has not had any events currently, however the club is working slowly towards becoming more active, and the board is currently being reestablished for this coming term!
Segerstrom
During the month of May and June, Segerstrom KIWIN’S is preparing by getting used to our new roles, setting new goals for next year and planning ahead for the term. We have already participated in countless events and have had 2 fundraisers so far!
