Set within Madrid’s El Retiro Park, the project proposes a temporary extension of Colegio Santa María del Pilar through lightweight, modular structures that bring learning into the landscape. Panel-based interventions form flexible “implied rooms” that frame views, foster interaction, and weave nature and play into daily education. Through material experimentation, the panels become inhabitable walls that define thresholds, provide shade, and support varied programs. Inspired by Luis Barragán’s monolithic planes and controlled apertures, the proposal reimagines Madrid as a dispersed, open-air classroom where learning unfolds across the city.

Cut & Fold is one of four subprojects within Open-HOUse: A Thermodynamic Living System, exploring storage as something flexible and responsive to everyday life. Built on a simple rule-based grid, it features eight interchangeable, stackable modules that go beyond typical furniture, allowing spaces to shift and adapt in different ways. Created in collaboration with a manufacturer, the project moved from detailed drawings to a fully assembled prototype, connecting the initial idea to its physical form.

Located on the second floor of the College of Architecture and Design, this underused space sits between studio areas and faculty offices, lacking comfort and visual appeal. Guided by themes of joy, ergonomics, and transformability, the studio explored adaptable furniture systems to turn it into a place for studying, relaxing, and informal gathering. As one of five projects in Habitable Furniture, this design creates a playful, interactive system inspired by origami. Each piece echoes the geometry of folded paper while leveraging inflatable materials, allowing users to adjust forms, experiment with asymmetry, and layer configurations to suit their needs.
