In the quiet shadows where memories dwell, I find your laughter, your stories to tell. A soulmate’s bond, so deeply entwined, In the tapestry of life, our hearts aligned.
Not in need, nor in sorrow’s embrace, But in love’s gentle strength, we found our place. Through every sunrise, your spirit shines bright, Guiding my path in the softest of light.
Though time may have claimed your warm, tender hand, In the whispers of night, together we stand. With each breath I take, your essence remains, In the dance of the stars, in the fall of the rain.
So I cherish the moments, the love that we knew, In the garden of memories, forever in bloom. Though you’re gone from my sight, in my heart you reside, My soulmate, my love, my eternal guide.
In the stillness of night, I’ll call out your name, For in every heartbeat, our love is the same. Entwined in this life, and beyond we will soar, Forever together, through each open door.
Life is amazing , life is unpredictable , but LOVE truly does conquer All.

Perhaps you sent a lovely card or sat quietly in a chair. Perhaps you sent a floral spray; it’s so we saw it there. Perhaps you spoke the kindest words that anyone could say. Perhaps you were not there at all, just thought of us that day. Whatever you did to console our hearts, we thank you so much, whatever the part.
The family of Walter Nelson, Jr. would like to express our sincere gratitude to our family, friends, and loved ones during this difficult time. We would like to thank the Foundation of Life and Pastor James T. Patterson for opening your doors to us and for your love and gratitude. Also, we would like to thank the nurses and caregivers at Methodist Germantown Hospital in Germantown, TN.
We thank you for your many prayers, condolences, phone calls, text messages, love, support, and acts of kindness. Your thoughtful gestures meant so much to us!

Mr. Walter Clenzy Nelson, Jr., born on March 19, 1948, in Michigan City, Mississippi, to the late Walter Sr. and Lizzie Mae Jenkins Nelson, was a beacon of love and strength in the lives of all who knew him. As the second child in a close-knit family, he grew up surrounded by warmth and support, which shaped the kind and gentle spirit he would carry throughout his life.
Affectionately known as “Joe,” he graduated from Old Salem High School, Class of 1969, in Ashland, MS, and embarked on a journey that would be filled with dedication and service. On February 2, 1979, he united in holy matrimony with Susie Patterson, his beloved partner in life, with whom he shared countless memories and unwavering love.
Joe’s work life was a testament to his commitment and resilience. He spent his career at Plastic Colors Unlimited, Orgill Brothers, and Goodwill, ultimately serving in security at FedEx until he was called home. But it was not just his work that defined him; it was his role as a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend that truly illustrated his legacy.
Walter was a devoted member of Temple Cathedral Holiness Church under the leadership of Elder Linton Patterson. Joe confessed his faith in Christ at an early age. His steadfast dedication to his church community and his role as Elder Patterson’s right-hand man reflected his deep spiritual grounding and commitment to serving others.
Walter was preceded in death by his father, Walter Clancy Nelson, Sr., mother, Lizzie Mae Jenkins Nelson, sister, Hazel Mae Griggs, step-son, Larry D. Patterson and a grandchild, Dallarn.
Walter will be forever cherished for his gentle nature and his remarkable ability to bring people together. He leaves behind his beloved wife, Susie Nelson, who stood faithfully by his side through life’s joys and challenges, and his devoted sons, Stacy Patterson, Keyland Hawkins, and his stepmother, Linnie Bell Nelson. Walter is also survived by a loving family that includes his dear sisters, Shirley Patterson (Linnie), Alice Nelson, Geraldine Cox, Margie Lewis, and Jacqueline Nelson; his brothers, Jarius Nelson (Barbara V.) and Michael Nelson; as well as his brother-in-law, Linnie Patterson, and sister-in-law, Barbara Nelson. His legacy continues through nine grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends who will always hold his memory close to their hearts.
Joe’s spirit will live on in the love he shared and the lives he touched, reminding us all of the beauty of kindness and the strength of family.

Gonna Miss you sooo much. You were there for all of us. When we got sick, you would come with food and put a little money in our hands.
You were truly my Big Brother.
Rest Now, Love Alice
Brother
My brother Joe was a kind and beautiful man. I love him dearly. If I called him, he will would be there, no questions asked.

Love You, Geraladine
Much-Loved Uncle
The day that God called your name
It broke my heart in two
But Heaven needed an Angel
And the one he picked was you I just wish he could have waited
And let you stay with me
But you have left memories in my heart
And that’s where they’ll always be I just wish I could rewind the clock
Or make it turn real slow
I could have hugged you one more time
Before you had to go
No matter how much time will pass
I’ll miss you everyday
Keep shining bright in heaven
So you can light my way.
Love you forever Unc, Neca
Going to miss you Big bro Joe. Jacqueline Nelson
Rest in peace big brother. Sister, Margie Lewis

The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.
