Jewish Baby University Winter 2013: Jan. 6, 14, 27 and Feb. 4 $180/couple Rose Medical Center and the JCC Designed for expectant parents, this innovative program combines childbirth education with an exploration of the Jewish traditions and rituals connected with pregnancy, birth and parenting. Instructors Rabbi Jeffrey Kaye (Judaic) and Sue Geissler (prepared childbirth),lead this program created by the Colorado Agency for Jewish Education and co-sponsored by the JCC and Rose Medical Center.Participants will also join the Boot Camp for New Dads and Miracles and Mayhem classes to discuss the anticipated post-partum experience,communication skills, parental expectations and changing identities.

Dads Day: Pilot for a Day! Sunday, Nov. 11, 2:30—4:30 p.m. (Broncos play at 11 a.m.) Location: Wings Over the Rockies Air and Space Museum, Lowry $15/Parent + 1 child; $4/add’l Child Enjoy a fun afternoon with your kids touring the museum,building balsa wood model planes, and“flying”kid-sized airplane replicas. Each child will also have the opportunity to sit in the cockpit of one of the planes in the museum, pilot of their own destination! Snacks included.

If you are Ashkenazi Jewish and have a relative on the maternal or paternal side of your family who has had breast or ovarian cancer, you may want to consider genetic testing for the BRCA1 and BRCA2 genes. Come learn more about this topic from experts in the field and hear the story and experiences of a high risk young woman in our community. Snacks and beverages will be served. Sponsored by Bright Pink Denver, Colorado Ovarian Cancer Alliance and the JCC Family Programs Department. The Family Programs Department and the JCC Early Childhood Center present a Family Hanukkah Celebration, recalling a time of Light, Heroes, Miracles and Reflection. The evening will include latkes, applesauce and sufganiyot, menorah lighting, creative activities and a rockin’ drum circle! Families are asked to bring new or gently used children’s hats, mittens and scarves that will be collected as a community service project,and donated to childrenin-need during the holiday season. It is a simple answer, OUR GUILT! It directs us away from what is important to us and to our children and leads us down a road that has no end in sight. Who among us mothers does not feel guilty as we try to balance all the aspects of our lives (family, work, volunteering, health, housework, etc.)? Come and explore a different road as we dispel the myths of “Jewish Guilt,” and discover when our guilt can be useful and when it is not. Find out how we can love ourselves and our families better,letting our guilt guide us in a more productive way.

JCC, Hazon and CAJE Present… Living the Seasons: Jewish Families in Nature $66/family (winter and spring activities) Families can still join us for the winter and spring activities, in addition to a wonderful weekend at the Ranch Camp in August! Developed for families with children ages 5–12 of all Jewish backgrounds and experiences, this new series allows families to connect to each other, the Denver Jewish community, and to nature through Jewish tradition and values. Educators will facilitate families experiencing natures through a Jewish lens as we move through a cycle of the seasons. All families will receive a copy of Spirit in Nature: Teaching Judaism and Ecology on the Trail by Matt BiersAriel, Deborah Newbrun and Michal Fox Smart. This book will serve as the guidepost to the series.
