PABLO SEGURA For the past 40 years, Pablo Segura has proudly served the military community. Mr. Segura began his career in 1985 as a Student Aid at the Air Intelligence Agency on Security Hill and has since served at Lackland, Kelly, Brooks, Fort Sam Houston, and Camp Bullis. Throughout his career, he has worked in fitness, sports, recreation, customer service, and military readiness. He has served as an Intramural and Varsity Sports Director, Fitness and Group Exercise Instructor, Assistant Fitness Manager, and Pool Manager. He has also supported the Fitness Assessment Cell and processed DEERS, and Basic Military Training records. Today, he continues his service as a member of the 502d Force Support Squadron. Mr. Segura's dedication to fitness, teamwork and community has positively impacted generations of service members and their families. If you see Mr. Segura around JBSA, be sure to congratulate him on 40 years of dedicated service!

Finding Home and Adventure at Canyon Lake After 24 years of service in the U.S. Navy, retired Navy Chief OJ Valdueza is enjoying a new chapter centered on family and community in San Antonio. When the Valdueza family was ready for a weekend getaway close to home, JBSA Canyon Lake was the perfect choice. The scenic waterfront reminded them of Okuma in Okinawa, one of their favorite places during their military travels. The waterfront bungalows and pet friendly accommodations made the experience even more special. “Our children have friends from different duty stations who now live here. That gives them
a sense of belonging and makes it feel like home.” Valdueza said. The family spent their days grilling, fishing, and enjoying the outdoors before gathering in the evenings for an outdoor movie and s'mores. “It was an amazing weekend getaway for the whole family.” Valdueza said. For future visitors, Valdueza offers one piece of advice. “Stay in the bungalows and bring plenty of bug spray.” For the Valdueza family, JBSA Canyon Lake was more than a weekend escape. It was a chance to slow down, reconnect, and create lasting memories close to home.

We Need You! Volunteer for Our Big Events with 502 FSS! Our community events don't run themselves; they are powered by the dedication of people like you. Every year our biggest gatherings come to life through careful planning, setup, and most importantly; the help of our volunteers. We welcome any adult to volunteer, including military students on base who are looking for something to do. If you have free time we would love your help. Volunteering is a fantastic way to meet your neighbors and give back to the community. It's also just plain fun! You don't need any special skills to make a difference. Just show up with a good attitude, and we will handle the rest. Think about the last event you attended: someone set up the chairs, handed out water, and offered a friendly smile.
