Coaches, gift the love of sports Are you looking for a meaningful way to give back to your community while having a blast? Consider becoming a volunteer coach for our youth sports programs! By coaching, you'll not only help shape the athletic skills and teamwork abilities of the next generation but also foster their confidence and love for sports. Imagine the joy of seeing a child’s face light up after scoring a goal or mastering a new skill, all thanks to your guidance. Plus, coaching offers a unique opportunity to bond with your community, develop your leadership skills, and stay active yourself. It’s a rewarding experience where your time and enthusiasm make a tangible difference. If you are interested in serving as a volunteer coach, contact your local Youth Programs and complete the registration process to be a coach. All potential volunteers must obtain background clearance, complete 10 hours of training, and attend two practice/games per week during an eight-week season.

Stop by the front desk and pick up a 100 Ton logbook to track the weight lifted throughout the day. RV PARK The RV Park has 74 full hookup RV pull-through sites with water, sewage and electricity. There are also two shower facilities and two laundry facilities for the customer’s convenience. All sites are 30/50 amp. Every site has a patio with a picnic table and 69 sites have a grill. There is a maximum stay limit of 30 days and reservations are taken up to 90 days in advance.
Outdoor Recreation has equipment rentals for all your outdoor plans to include camping equipment, water fun, fishing boats, speedboats, sports and party equipment, tables, chairs and bouncy castles. They also have RV campers (all sizes) and towable and portable grills.

By Appointment Only The Equestrian Center offers horseback riding lessons for all levels of riders in both Englishand Western-style. Therapeutic riding lessons are also available. Horses, saddles and tack for lessons will be provided if needed. Patrons must be at least seven years old. The price is $60 per hour for a private lesson, $50 for semi-private and $40 for group lessons. Therapeutic lessons are $30 for 30 minutes. Lessons are available most days of the week and in the evenings. Helmets are available if you do not have your own.
TRAIL RIDES Saturdays and Sundays Weekend trail rides are available for patrons seven and older for $30. All riders must arrive 30 minutes prior to their appointment time. Adults must accompany children under the age of 13. Riders must be at least 4 feet, 6 inches tall and weigh no more than 200 pounds. Weekday trail rides, group rides, teambuilding rides and pony rides are also available by appointment. Weekday trail rides are $40 per person. Call to make reservations.

Wednesdays • 10:30 a.m. Grooming class includes learning how to move safely around the horses, grooming techniques, horse anatomy, and if time allows a pony/cart ride. The class is approximately 30 minutes long. It is designed for children ages three and older that don’t meet lesson age requirements but show an interest in learning about and spending time with the horses. The cost is $10 per youth.
Saturdays and Sundays 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The Equestrian Center offers parent-led pony rides for $10 for children that do not meet age/ height requirements for trail rides. Adults must accompany their children and availability is on a first-come, first-served basis. Pony rides can also be coordinated for weekdays on an appointment basis as well as for parties or other special events held on site. A covered deck is available for small parties for half-day use for $50. Must make a reservation.
CARRIAGE RIDES Enjoy a relaxing carriage ride at the Equestrian Center. These rides are reservation only, The cost is $40 per ride. The carriage fits three people.
HORSE BOARDING The Equestrian Center has paddocks and stalls for boarding your horse, a covered arena, two outdoor rings, a round pen, wash racks, a hot-walker and many more amenities. Active-duty military personnel have priority.

The targets at the range are crossbow rated. A daily pass is $5. A DoD ID cardholder can sponsor up to two non-DoD ID cardholders for $5 per person. The range at Camp Bullis is 100% ID check. All guests must report to ODR and present a DoD ID card. Guests must be in the same vehicle as the sponsor.
SPORTSMAN RANGE (GUN RANGE) Saturdays & Sundays 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. To use the Sportsman Range, patrons must be 10 and older and be with a valid DoD ID cardholder. Purchase a Joint Base San Antonio Recreation Park at Canyon Lake annual pass for $100. Buy one and enjoy the lake all year. This pass gets you into both Sunny Side and Hancock Cove sides of the facility. Otherwise, the daily entry fee for the park is $15 per visit, per vehicle. Annual passes include a vehicle and boat/trailer pass and are valid for one year from date of issue. You can also buy a spousal pass for an additional $35 as long as they are over 18 and have a valid DoD ID card. Give us a call for more information.

STAR GAZING Jan. 25 • 7:30-8:30 p.m. We should have excellent views of many planets in our solar system, constellations and deep space objects this time of year. Open to all DoD ID cardholders. The cost is $10 for children 12 and younger and $20 for adults. Call or email to reserve your spot. Start times may vary and can be rescheduled due to weather or low visibility.

BOATER’S SAFETY JBSA Recreation Park at Canyon Lake requires a Boater’s Safety Course certificate from Texas Parks and Wildlife in order for customers to rent powered boats. • BoatUS.org • Boat-ed.com • BOATsmartexam.com • iLearnToBoat.com The kayak and canoe safety course is required for non-powered boating equipment. W. ED PARKER YOUTH PROGRAMS NEW YEAR CELEBRATION Jan. 10 • 5-7 p.m. Fort Sam Houston Youth Programs is celebrating the new year with all pre-teen and teens ages 9-18. This celebration includes various activities, food, games and fun. This is free to active members.
TEEN SILENT DISCO BOWLING Jan. 10 • 6-10 p.m. Ring in the New Year with a silent disco! Teens ages 13-18 can listen to the same music through headphones. This event takes place at the Fort Sam Houston Bowling Center, is open to all active Youth Programs teens and includes food and fun! The cost is only $10 per youth. Register in CYPBMS by Jan. 7.
FORT SAM HOUSTON TEEN LOCK IN Jan 24-25 • 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. Join us for a late, late Game Night! All teens ages 13-18 are invited to stay up late and play board, card, video and physical games! The fun will continue outside of the building with a field trip and food! This event cost $35 and is open to all active members. Register in CYPBMS by Jan. 21.
WILL PHIL SEE HIS SHADOW? Jan. 31 • 5-7 p.m. W. Ed Parker Youth Programs is asking all families and youth to vote whether “Phil” will see his shadow or not on National Groundhog Day Feb. 2. Free hot cocoa and sugar cookies will be served to all registered youth members, ages 9-18, and their families.

AFRICAN AMERICAN HERITAGE CELEBRATION Feb. 21 • 4:30-5:30 p.m. Join us for a free vibrant celebration honoring African American culture, history and achievements.
