For Anthony, LEGO® has never been just a toy—it’s been a lifelong passion. He first discovered the colorful bricks at the age of four, building simple structures and letting his imagination run free. By ten, a babysitter handed him his first “adult” LEGO set after walking in on him proudly standing beside a life-size DUPLO creation. From that moment on, LEGO became more than play, it became part of who he is.
Today, Anthony channels that same joy into Bricks & Minifigs, where he serves the community of LEGO enthusiasts young and old. The store isn’t just about buying and selling sets, it’s about connection. “There’s a unique satisfaction that comes from clicking the final piece of a set, LEGO or not, into place,” Anthony says. “It’s a feeling of creativity, patience, and accomplishment. If you understand that feeling, you understand the community we serve.”
Anthony’s path to ownership wasn’t straightforward. After earning his high school diploma and some college coursework, he became a certified mortuary assistant. But his heart wasn’t in that career. Instead, he leaned into retail, spending two decades climbing the ranks from associate to supervisor and manager across multiple companies. That experience shaped the way he now runs his own business, with structure, care, and a people-first approach.
As a self-described Southern gentleman, Anthony weaves integrity, tradition, and hospitality into every corner of his store. He strives to create a friendly, welcoming environment where families feel comfortable spending time. “I want my store to be a place where you feel at home,” he explains, “with associates who are knowledgeable, approachable, and full of classic values.”
Of course, his favorite part of the job is the people—especially the kids. “Seeing their faces light up when they get a new set, or even their very first set, makes me unimaginably happy,” he says. “I know that feeling of awe, and I want to spread that joy.”
Anthony also has advice for aspiring store owners: build a team you trust.
“Don’t do it by yourself,” he cautions. “I was stubborn at first, but once I started leaning on my team’s strengths, everything became easier.”
Born and raised in San Diego, Anthony now finds his true home with his wife and in the community he’s building, brick by brick. For him, Bricks & Minifigs is more than a store. It’s a place of creativity, connection, and shared joy.

When it comes to balancing family and career, few do it as gracefully as Leslie Domingues and her daughter, Allie Burbrink—a talented mother-daughter duo who both call Beau Chene home. As Allie and her husband, Ben, approach their first year in the neighborhood (and Leslie and her husband, Paul, celebrate their fifteenth), the young couple is thrilled to be closer to their parents and extended family. For Leslie, having her daughter and grandchildren nearby feels like life coming full circle. For 27 years, Leslie and Paul have owned and operated Northlake and Lakeview Academy of Music. Now, with Allie on board as the Director of the musical Mother’s Day Out, Tots-N-Tunes, which runs two days a week for children 2-5 years old, mother and daughter are working side by side to cultivate a studio defined by authenticity, creativity, and genuine warmth.
Family Roots and Harmony
Leslie and Paul Domingues, the matriarch and patriarch of
the family, have shared nearly forty years of marriage, a milestone they’ll officially celebrate in December 2026. Their love story began on the sunny shores of Destin, Florida, where a 17-year-old Leslie met 19-year-old Paul. What started as a teenage romance blossomed into a lifelong partnership built on love, laughter, and music, which grew into a beautiful family that now includes their three adult children: Beau, Allie, and Thomas, as well as Allie’s husband, fellow musician Ben Burbrink, who works for Chabert Insurance.
Allie and Ben’s own love story began in their college years, when fate brought them together one evening at the Green Room. Allie had gone to hear the band Stone Rabbits perform, and Ben happened to be the lead singer. Though both were attending LSU at the time, they had never met until that night. “We were engaged just over a year later,” Allie recalls, smiling as she remembers Ben’s romantic proposal on the Mandeville Lakefront.
Years later, with three little ones in tow and baby number

attend Our Lady of the Lake. Benjamin loves Cub Scouts, and Maggie has recently started joining him on the tennis courts at the Beau Chene Club. Eleanor, 2, takes gymnastics at Northshore Gymnastics and spends her days at Tots-NTunes Mother’s Day Out, where she gets to call the director “Mommy.” And rounding out the crew is baby Sam, just four months old, who adores his big siblings, and they absolutely adore him right back.
four on the way, Allie and Ben began searching in earnest for their forever home. “We knew we ultimately wanted to be in Beau Chene—especially near the marina, since we love to boat,” Allie explains. “We were outgrowing our space quickly in Riverwood. My parents are here, and Ben’s parents are close by in Penn’s Chapel. It’s so special having both sets of grandparents just minutes away.”
When they finally found their home in Beau Chene, it felt like a dream realized not only for Allie and Ben, but for Leslie and Paul. “I love living so close to my grandchildren,” Leslie shares. Some of her favorite moments are the simplest ones, sitting on her back porch, surrounded by nature, listening to the laughter of her grandchildren as they swing and run up the hill on the golf course.
Inside the Burbrink Home
Their home reflects Allie’s creative eye for design and her love of family heritage. “Anything wallpapered or painted, I did myself—usually with my mom’s help,” Allie says with a laugh. “We’ve watched way too much HGTV, and now we’re hooked!” Together, they’ve already transformed the walk-in attic into a cozy nursery for Sam and have plans to renovate the kitchen next. “We love the character and details of this house,” Allie adds. “The heart of pine floors, brick kitchen floors, high ceilings, moldings—it’s all so dreamy. And the big windows bring in the most beautiful light.”
Allie’s appreciation for family history shines through in her furnishings as well. The dining room table and chairs once belonged in her father’s childhood home, while Maggie’s bed set has been passed down from her great-great-great-grandmother. She loves mixing these heirloom pieces with antiques from local shops like Patina’s and White Elephant, paired with finds from American Factory Direct.
Hosting is one of the Burbrinks’ favorite pastimes. Allie loves setting out her favorite platters from Niche for family gatherings, often held outdoors on their patio beneath string lights, surrounded by boxwoods and a white picket fence. On weekends, they’ll stroll through the local Farmers’ Market before her dad, Paul, whips up his famous homemade gumbo. “It feels like a little vacation,” Allie smiles, and that sense of togetherness is exactly what they treasure most.
The Burbrinks’ home radiates personality and warmth, thanks in large part to the joyful energy of their four children. Benjamin, 6, and Magnolia, or Maggie, 4, both k
When packing to go on an out-of-town vacation, they are all true beach lovers through and through, whether it’s Destin, 30A, or Navarre. “The beach is our happy place,” Allie says. “My parents actually met there, so we go back every year.”
Another beloved family tradition is the Thomas Family Fishing Rodeo in Bay St. Louis, where Allie’s extended family—her mom Leslie is one of eight siblings—gathers each summer for a lively, laughter-filled reunion by the water.
Now, with three generations’ worth of love and laughter echoing through Beau Chene, the Domingues and Burbrink families have created something truly special: a life rooted in music and togetherness. What began decades ago on the beaches of Destin has blossomed into a legacy that continues to grow right here at home. Surrounded by family, friends, and the familiar scent of the live oak trees, Leslie and Allie are more than just living in Beau Chene; they’re composing the next verse of a family song that will play on for years to come.

Beau Chêne is a private, gated community comprised of 1,550 home and condominium lots in the northern part of the New Orleans Metropolitan Area. With an approximate population of 4,500 persons just outside the city limits of both Mandeville and Madisonville Louisiana near Lake Pontchartrain and the Tchefuncte River, Beau Chêne is in a premier location. The community has access via the Lake Pontchartrain Causeway Bridge to New Orleans and Interstate 12 with Baton Rouge 65 miles to the west and the Mississippi Gulf Coast 35 miles to the east. The homes and condominiums of Beau Chêne surround two renowned 18-hole golf courses that are a feature of Beau Chêne Country Club. Also intertwined within the gates of Beau Chêne is Marina Beau Chêne which boasts 140 boat slips accommodating varying lengths of vessels located off the Tchefuncte River.
Beau Chêne was established in 1974 and has grown through the years to what is now 339 condominiums, 1,173 single-family homes, and 38 un-built home lots.
Beau Chêne’s greatest asset is its residents, who make the community a wonderful place to live, work, and play. The community is self-managed and operates its own private water and sewerage treatment facility. The management team is governed by an 11-member board of directors comprised of residents and elected by the homeowners.

As fall settles over us and the holiday season begins, Beau Chêne has much to celebrate—not only the beauty of the season, but the steady progress and community spirit that continue to define the neighborhood. The Beau Chêne Homeowners Association (HOA), led by President Scott Nowicki and an eleven-member Board, has spent the past six months driving meaningful improvements across infrastructure, security, and operations all with the goal of keeping Beau Chêne a premier place to live, work, and play.
“We’ve focused on creating a more modern, efficient, and responsive approach to community management,” says Nowicki. “It’s been inspiring to see so many dedicated volunteers and residents come together to make Beau Chêne stronger than ever.”
From the ground up, the HOA has made tangible progress. The neighborhood’s infrastructure earned the highest grade for its water system from the State, thanks to proactive maintenance like sewer smoke testing, hydrant flushing, bridge repairs, and a detailed schedule for road overlays. Public works also expanded its team, ensuring long-term stability and faster response to maintenance needs.
On the security front, Beau Chêne is stepping into the future. Residents can look forward to upgraded gate mechanisms, Gate Sentry’s enhanced visitor access system, and
Flock Safety cameras strategically installed at entry points and key areas. Backup generators have also been added to ensure the gates remain operational even during power outages—reinforcing safety and convenience for all.
Internally, the HOA has made major strides in efficiency and modernization. Partnerships with LaPorte and Crescent TeK have elevated the community’s accounting and IT systems, while a new online Work Order portal allows residents to easily report and track neighborhood concerns. The Community Enhancement Committee (CEC) is also redesigning signage and gate entry for a cleaner, more welcoming appearance.
These efforts reflect a broader vision: to combine Beau Chêne’s natural beauty and strong community values with modern management and transparent operations. As Nowicki notes, “Our Board and committees are committed to continuous improvement, not just maintaining what we have, but building a neighborhood that thrives for generations to come.”
As we gather in gratitude this season, the Beau Chêne community can take pride in the collective effort shaping its bright future one project, one improvement, and one neighborly connection at a time.

Founded in 1998 by Leslie Domingues, Tots-N-Tunes began as a small music appreciation program for preschoolers at Werlein’s Music Store—then the largest in the South. What started with a love of teaching and music has since blossomed into Northlake Academy and Lakeview Academy of Music, where thousands of children and adults have discovered the joy of music. Both schools offer programs such as:
• Tunes Together
• Tots-N-Tunes
• Private lessons in piano, guitar, violin, drums, vocals, and wind instruments
Students of all ages will experience live music, creative movement, and the joy of performance through engaging, hands-on lessons. In 2025, Northlake proudly celebrated 27 years of music education and launched Music with a Mission, a nonprofit providing scholarships to aspiring musicians in the community.
Founder Leslie Domingues holds dual certifications in Special and Regular Education from the University of New Orleans and has dedicated her career to inspiring others through music. Alongside her husband, Paul, with whom she shares 39 years of marriage, Leslie’s passions include her family, community through service work, and advocacy. The Domingues family, including their children and grandchildren, remains deeply involved in both academies, keeping the heart of Northlake and Lakeview rooted in love, music, and family.

The Hoz family is full of life thanks to two very different, yet equally lovable pups: Pippa Jane Lemonade, a fiveyear-old Australian Labradoodle, and Harry Connick Jr., a seven-year-old standard poodle with a flair for the dramatic.
Pippa joined the family as a puppy in 2020, following the loss of LouLou, their cherished 14-year-old Australian Labradoodle. “LouLou was my soul dog,” Candice shares, “and losing her was heartbreaking. When I learned a new litter of Australian Labradoodles had been born just two days after my birthday, I took it as a sign.” Out of five female puppies, Pippa quickly became the one.
The Hoz family fell in love with Australian Labradoodles after meeting one in Central Park and learning about their hypoallergenic coats and friendly temperaments. Their first, LouLou, weighed 75 pounds, so when it came time to add Pippa, Candice opted for a smaller 40-pound Labradoodle.
Three-year-old Harry, the poodle, came along a year later. He spent his early years in a foster home filled with elderly rescue dogs, which meant he didn’t really know how to play when he first arrived. It took time, but with Pippa’s encouragement, he eventually found his groove, and his personality has been entertaining the family ever since.
Physically, the two couldn’t be more different. Pippa is a medium-sized Australian Labradoodle with a silky liver-andwhite wavy coat and a face full of joy. Harry, on the other hand, is what Candice calls “the smallest standard poodle you’ve ever seen,” sporting coily white hair, a black nose, and a hairstyle that resembles an 80s rock band photoshoot. “He reminds us of Adrian Vandenberg from Whitesnake,” she laughs.

Their personalities are just as distinct. Pippa’s happy-golucky, greeting everyone with leaps and twirls, mimicking a kangaroo. She’s also clever and has devised many plans to score extra treats. She loves morning walks, playing fetch, and nursing her stuffed animal collection. Harry, by contrast, is more refined. “I think he’s British, not French,” Candice jokes. “He can be very particular, sometimes turning his nose up at food. He’s also our little soldier, constantly scanning the windows for squirrels, delivery men, or even floating leaves.”
Life with them is never dull. As a puppy, Pippa was infamous for her great escapes, once slipping out of her collar during her brother’s football trip and sprinting through a Sunday brunch crowd before dashing into the parking lot. “It wasn’t funny at the time, but it sure is now,” Candice laughs. Another escape had her mom chasing Pippa down the street in pajamas, joined by helpful neighbors. Those adventures eventually earned Pippa a harness, a tighter leash, and some much-needed training. Harry’s humor, meanwhile, comes from his quirks. He loves to bury himself right up against you when you sit down, and he’s smitten with Candice’s sister, Ashley. “He won’t leave her side when she visits, and he cries when she leaves,” Candice shares. His funniest habit, though, is how he and Pippa play. Their back-and-forth looks choreographed, like a tango.
Like a true odd couple, Pippa and Harry are opposites that attract.

This year in Beau Chêne, we’ve seen a steady rhythm in home sales: Q1 brought early momentum ( Total sold 18; 8 houses/10 condos), Q2 was more robust (Total sold 34; 19 houses/15 condos), and Q3 held ground even as the broader market cooled (Total sold 17; 13 houses/ 4 condos). That tells me our neighborhood’s brand appeal and community feel remain strong, even amid shifting interest rates and seasonal lulls.
As we slide into November and December, now’s the window to keep your home in top shape (and protect its value). Below is a winter maintenance checklist tailored for our climate.
• Change HVAC filters and run a heating test cycle
• Clear gutters and downspouts, and ensure water is directed away from the foundation
• Inspect the roof for lifted shingles, check flashing, and caulk around windows and trim
• Pressure-wash driveways, patios, and siding to remove mildew and algae
• Test smoke and CO detectors; refresh the batteries
• Inspect your plumbing: look for slow leaks and insulate exposed pipes
• Refresh interior caulk and grout in bathrooms and kitchens
• Replace or repair exterior lighting; clean the fixtures
• Mulch garden beds, prune shrubs, and remove dying plant material
• Service the fireplace or gas logs for cozy evenings

This season, skip the stress and reach for what you already have. The holidays don’t need to be picture-perfect — just full of warmth and Southern personality. With a few thoughtful touches and timeless details, you can make your home feel joyful, personal, and inviting — all while creating something truly festive and a little bit magical, without breaking the bank on décor.
1. Silver Bells (and Dishes!)
Bring out your inherited silver, heirloom china, or specialoccasion pieces and keep them on display all season long. Styled on a sideboard, open shelving, or the dining table, these timeless treasures add warmth, sparkle, and a touch of family history to your holiday décor.
2. Draped in Greenery & Velvet
Drape magnolia or cedar on mantels and cabinets. Hang garland from chandeliers and tie velvet ribbon on sconces for an elevated holiday feel.
3. Tannenbaum Tales
Every tree tells a story. Blend heirloom ornaments, travel finds, and children’s keepsakes for a collected look that feels timeless and personal — not staged.
4. Blush and Bashful
Every true Steel Magnolia knows a little pink makes everyone look their best. Add a pink bulb or line lamps and sconces with pink fabric for that soft Southern glow. Don’t forget to set lighting to 2700–3000K for extra warmth and coziness.
5. Scents of the Season
Simmer oranges and cloves, tuck rosemary into garlands, or create a clove-studded pomander tree for a warm, nostalgic fragrance that welcomes guests the moment they walk in.
6. Raise the Bar
Make your bar a moment all season long. Style it with greenery, julep cups, cranberries, or satsumas, and add thoughtful details like cheeky cocktail napkins or a bowl of citrus. Swap florals for pinecones or cedar to keep it festive from Thanksgiving through New Year’s.

7. Here, There, Everywhere!
Add swags above headboards, citrus in kitchens, wreaths on chairs, or greenery on consoles to bring the holiday spirit throughout your home.
8. Merry and Bright (With a Twist)
Weave in unexpected colors like chartreuse and salmon, mustard and eggplant, or navy and moss for a playful, modern look. Layer in natural textures like magnolia leaves, linen, or brass to keep the palette warm and timeless.
9. All Wrapped Up
Treat your gifts as décor — wrap them in beautiful paper, tie with real wired silk ribbon, and finish with pinecones or jingle bells.

As Dr. Aust’s partner, Beninato is expanding the practice to what he sees as the future of medicine: weight loss, aesthetics, hormone therapy, and regenerative care. “In my opinion,” he explains, “the future of medicine is avoiding chronic illness by maximizing health and wellness, and I want to be at the forefront of this paradigm change.”

The Association of the United States Army (AUSA) has supported American soldiers since its founding in 1950. A voice for active-duty troops, AUSA has become a nationwide organization that champions the needs of all Army-connected individuals, including veterans, reserve members, and military families. The AUSA New Orleans chapter symbolizes this mission with a local touch.
With over 270,000 veterans in Louisiana, AUSA NOLA serves as a bridge between the military and civilian communities. The AUSA NOLA chapter hosts events like the Annual Army Birthday Ball, a patriotic celebration that honors Army tradition while bringing together service members, veterans, and supporters in unity and gratitude.
Beyond celebration, AUSA NOLA is dedicated to results. The chapter awards annual scholarships to deserving students, many of whom are veterans or military dependents. These scholarships help offset
educational costs while recognizing the leadership potential of the next generation.
Understanding the challenges of military-tocivilian transitions, AUSA NOLA actively partners with local and national organizations to connect veterans with job opportunities, housing resources, and mental health support. The chapter also leads community outreach, engaging schools, businesses, and civic groups to foster greater awareness and appreciation for military service.
At its core, AUSA NOLA is about service, not just to soldiers, but to the entire Louisiana community. The chapter honors the Army’s legacy through advocacy, education, and hands-on involvement while building a stronger and connected future.
In a time when national unity and support for the military are more critical than ever, AUSA NOLA continues to benefit those who serve, reminding us that supporting our soldiers is a shared responsibility.

Every fall members of the Northlake-Mandeville Rotary Club participate in the Rotary Dictionary Project handing out dictionaries to 3rd graders at local elementary schools.
“A dictionary teaches a child how to approach a problem and use critical thinking skills by sounding out the word and finding it in the dictionary. This simple task gives them a feeling of self-confidence and satisfaction that they cannot get online.”
The Rotary Dictionary Project is a nationwide effort to provide young students with their own personal dictionaries. Members distribute the dictionaries to students. This year’s dictionary is filled with more than just terms and definitions. It also includes a mini encyclopedia

filled with maps, facts about U.S. Presidents, sign language, the periodic table of elements and math conversion tables. Rotary members say seeing the joy on the children’s faces when they learn the book is theirs to keep makes the project worthwhile.

“The holy family is the beginning of countless other holy families” JPII

If you’ve ever seen Lillian Tridico dance, you know she does it with her whole heart. At just 11 years old, this bright fifth grader approaches every challenge and passion in life with the same vigor she brings to dance, setting the bar higher and higher for herself, pushing her own limits and comfort zones. Whether she’s performing with her dance team, taking a chapter test, cheering at school, or playing volleyball, she gives it her all.
Her love for dance began in second grade, when she joined the Applause Dance Academy Company Team. “It was so exciting to be part of a group of dancers in fun costumes performing on stage!” she says. What started as a love for sparkles and music grew into a passion for the art of dance, while giving her a big boost in self-confidence. “I used to be shy, especially in front of crowds or new people,” Lillian admits, “but being on stage helped me gain confidence. Now, I rarely get nervous!” Now, one of her favorite moments is standing under the bright lights at competitions, waiting with her teammates for the judges’ results.
When she’s not dancing, Lillian challenges herself on the volleyball court and on her school cheer squad. With the help of her mom’s trusty calendar, she keeps everything organized. “Even though I’m busy, I like being part of multiple teams,” she says. “There’s always something fun to do!”
After a packed week, Lillian takes a much needed break with cuddles from her dog Gumbo and down time with family and friends. Whether she’s playing board games or building blanket forts with younger brothers Leo and Joseph, or enjoying spa nights with friends, she understands the importance of self care: “Sometimes I go to Drybar for a blowout or get my nails done,” she says with a grin. “It’s nice to feel special after a long week!”
School life is just as fun. Lillian looks forward to 5th grade canoe trips, Wednesday ice cream days, and exciting, innovative projects like BizTown, where students run their own pretend city for a day.
When she’s not keeping busy, Lillian spends her downtime celebrating Jesus by listening to Christian music. She would love nothing more than to rock out while worshipping in a sea of thousands of Forrest Frank fans.
